invalid save file help! in Sins of a Solar Empire Sins Forums

So I recently updated my sins of a solar empire to the latest version, bought entrenchment and spent 5 hours playing on a huge map to get the feel of it. I open up entrenchment again to load my not yet completed game and it says the save is invalid! I tried starting another game on a small random scenario, set up my home world, saved and exited to windows and upon opening sins back up it says THAT save file is invalid too.
