I like the idea of Capital ships having a cultural influence, it should perhaps effect morale as well. Kinda like how Britain and America used to send there Battleships around the world as a sign of prestige, would add another depth to the game and make the loss of a capital ship more than just a unit. This might be a useful ingredient in the FlagShip unit which was discussed during the beta's.
10) Allow unlimited benefit points, though put a note that if someone goes over 10 then they cannot submit to metaverse
If you use the GC editor you can change the costs of these and the bonus's it takes a bit of work though, Just open up the English.str file in the GC editor and edit away. make sure you back it up though, as you might find it rather boring.
I quite like them, Its quite fun when you shepperd them into the centre of another races territory and watch them cause carnage.
if anything Politic parties should have more of an impact on moral/ethical moves of your empire, because currently it has no impact at all and that isnt quite fitting with the game. also Im still a firm beleiver as I was during the beta's that there should be some way to moderate borders between 2 empires, this would add a new level of politics to the game, as fights over territories would become more enhanced, as well as treaties to enforce them, at present there is no way to have a ne
and for my choices of what would be nice to have in later versions: -Some form of ship customization. -A Raider ship which allows you to steal Credits from trade routes.(they mentioned there would be a Marauder class ship eventually but it hasnt arrived yet) -Some form of Territorial boundries which you can set between civilizations so that you cant just enter another races territory without repurcussions. -More political options such as forcing the losing side in a war
the expansion pack will make it v1.1, afaik the one thing they had to cut out of the game which they wanted in was a multiplayer inferface that they had considered doing in v2. at least those were the talks back in the beta days.
strange, I assumed the Metaverse was for people to show how good they are not just how many times they can submit the same thing(anyone doing that should have there metaverse a/c closed imho. + The metaverse isnt just about scores, it helps SD improve the AI to be more intelligent and use better stratagies.
also next time, you should check how much resources you gain from trade with them so you dont get left in the lurch so to speak.
you can use the "declare war on xx" feild, but trust me its near on impossible without giving them a hell of a lot of things to make them agree.
well imho Enterprise should have focused more onto the things leading up to the Earth-Romulan war. Focusing on the Andorians and Vulcans mainly as they were both founders of the UFP, the first episode was a dissapointment also breaking the timeline just so they could show a popular race(klingons) is pathetic, as was the first meeting with the romulans, as they werent supposed to have warpdrive. + the main weapons were supposed to be nuclear/fusion warheads not phase cannons.<br
Ken have you ever tried keeping it under Imperial rule? that means what you say goes, the senate cannot overall you.
its only v0.99 that does this, it wiped 70% of my hard drive, v0.98 works like a charm though
ive got a similar problem m8, even when i click on the register GalCiv rather than drengin.net subscription, it comes back that i need to varify my email address and drengin.net subscription
well people can still submit the mods to SD to be approved or rejected, so i hope most will otherwise it'll be a royal pain in the a$$ ;-) + it'd be a lot easier to get them all in one place. btw did I read it correct on the site somewhere that once a mod is approved the person who created it gets meteverse points for every download?
i know ive done it, but i mean to truely have a super race come into the galaxy and play the strings, it'd be a decent subplot if it was implemented properly.
why would you want to? the game wouldnt be fun if you had to cheat to win
for me i would have to agree with the babylon 5 type thing as it seems more plausible to me, however it is very intriging ~SDC~
Also they have also hinted about random events such as a highly advanced alien race which could invade the galaxy which would set forth certain conditions that would need all the races to band together to fight off the invasion and save there civilizations, which would be quite fun as long as the nemesis was very difficult to beat and so even winning would cost all sides dearly. it'd be interresting to have a race like the shadows from babylon 5, who would entice the races to go to war
it was the Drengin Empire who enslaved the Torians, and it has been hinted that the Yor were created by the precursors and that perhaps they either wiped out the precursors or drove them out of this galaxy. And about finding the artifacts and such, an empire as large as the precursor one would not be able to hide all evidence of its existance so finding a few ships here and there would be likely as well as the odd peice of technology.
although i havent played the full version, for a new player they will unless they are stratigical genuises start off at the lowest levels or get whooped big time, it took me 3 games before i moved up even to the medium levels hehe and that was 3 long games
i think it will occur more also, especially with the internet connection speeds increasing which allows people to download larger files and information whereas a few years back it would not have been possible due to the lack of bandwidth needed to transfer really large programs.
you can through diplomacy trade influence for tech/money or ships, but currently which laws/agreements popup are fairly random and it also depends on whats happening in the game. i.e if everyone is at peace your more likely to have a new trade agreement allowing more trade routes than if everyone was at war then it would have more chance of a call for galactic peace or a tax on races that are at war. at least that is the way things usually are for me.
yeah i know, its just really really hard to resist wanting to play hehe ;-)
i payed to get into the beta in november time, and my hard drive got wiped a couple of days ago, just abotu got my pc sorted now except that ive not got my old beta to play. on the DGM i cant download the old beta anymore, i take it that it is down intensionally? because the full game comes out in 4 days that is.
i guess it depends, i think what it is really pointing at that you will get at LEAST 1 whole year of updates and support which is a lot more than most games offer, how successful this is will depend on how long they continue to provide 100%
