This is aimed at Gunslinger I guess, but any DesktopX staff really: Where to next? Do you want us to just keep posting bugs etc. here? What about using one of those websites which tracks issues separately so you can see what's been reported and indicate status or how you might address them. What should we focus on? Is there some particular change or feature that needs testing by those of us that managed to get it installed and (mostly) functional? Ta.</p

I really hope I don't say something stupid - would the person who stole it likely be just going to try and flog it on the street? Maybe a sign in the soup-kitchens or shelter notice boards or whatever they might have could guilt them into returning it? Can a friend check local pawn shops? This sounds like a worst nightmare for me, we have so much of our lives in our computers. I'm horrified most of all to hear about your book, please please know that even if it is gone the per
... this time, it just vanished. Use to leave "pieces" on the screen. Reloaded the EXE and the pref's had been saved, and all the "pieces" were there and looked correct. So maybe just a bug in the saving of the preferences...
I've seen this behaviour when closing a widget/gadget and then reopening it again immediately afterwards (old post) . I think the folder 'cache' is still being 'used' by the

I see the 'export to gadget' option - but it fails at the exe creation point with an error 'dxApp-Custom.bin' not found. In the past I think the Pro version update follows the Standard update so when 4 beta gets better the Pro might get the update too.

Fair enough Wizard - I should clarify that I'm pre-empting a bit here. The posts so far haven't really put coins on the track yet, but I can see the pocket money coming out. Re: the release comment - I tend to agree I think it would be cleverer of Stardock to use its more experience DesktopX developers in the community to do some 'private' testing first. Maybe

[e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] Before I continue (hope I don't get stomped for this): Can the experienced DesktopX developers testing the beta version please play nice and constructive? Forget griping about the past version 4 or if this version is so much more broken than 3.5. I for one am excited that this may mean DesktopX is going to get some attention again which I would say we are very lucky to get and I do

Could we see if an 'other' category can be made for everything not a calendar, weather or clock? There probably isn't too many items and would make them easily browse-able? *edit* what 'types' do you see and where RND? I don't see any categories under the filters on the right side of the webpage.

Hello forums :-) When I look for cool gadgets to use in the DesktopX Gadgets library - I can't see how to filter out the zillions of weather, clock and calendar gadgets. I know there's other cool stuff in there, but I can't be sure I've seen them - anyone know how to filter out these gadget types? Thanks ^_^

Well, unfortunately I'm outta ideas - being that my little pink star is a Pro gadget, it should theoretically run without DesktopX installed at all. It's worked for me and one other person using x64 Windows 7 (sViz, did you copy the shortcut to c:\ ? or maybe the shortcut locations are different for Vista 32bit) - so this seems to indicate that there could be something on your system interfering with DesktopX functions. Maybe a virus scanner or anti-malware is blocking it

Go to my skyDrive: https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=ff1faf74706c5bbc&resid=FF1FAF74706C5BBC!152 Download MouseControlPanel.zip Unzip it and copy the MouseControlPanel *shortcut* to your c:\ Run the MouseControlPanel.exe and click the little pink star. Let us know if that works to open Mouse Pointer control panel. If someone else could test

Tried running your gadget as an Administrator? I'm using Windows 7 x64. DesktopX Pro 3.5 Just tried it with an export to gadget myself, and apart from having to point it to a full path e.g. d:\test.lnk as the shortcut, it works. I tried it with UAC on and off and both work. What version of DesktopX are you using?

Try turning on the 'Windows 7 Control Panel God Mode' (make a new folder with this name: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} This gives you a comprehensive list of control panels that you can make shortcuts to. Then make a shortcut to whichever control panel you want, and put the shortcut somewhere easy to find. Then make a DesktopX object. Then make it a Shortcut Type Object Then go to the Object Summary tab and Custom Files Add

Bounding box collisions are easily doable in DesktopX. But sometimes pixelbased collisions are useful for games - or other image-image interactions. DesktopX has no way of doing this, except now with dxCanvas I can use the in memory rendering methods it exposes to rapidly do image composition. dxCanvas also exposes a pixel array which lets you check every pixel in a range for a particular colour combination. It's really a 'tech' demo - to show it can be d

edit: I've reworded this post and categorized under DesktopX - I'm hoping to spark some interest from DesktopX developers. For fun of course! Using dxCanvas by LittleBoy we have access to a flexible in memory image map within DesktopX. This opens up a number of collision techniques used often in simple game development. I've done some testing and created some videos and int

Don't lose DesktopX please - at minimum make it's current existence/function compatible - it already works pretty well on Windows 7. Is there an as easy to use gadget engine in Windows 8? I still think using WFX's method of display a 'window animation' could be used to display DesktopX Objects while they are moving i.e. accelerated animations.
