How about that companion book "Destiny's Embers"? Does reading the book provide some background lore to the game world?
Yeah, I read the book. He's no George R.R. Martin, but he's ok. It does add that sense of lore missing in the game. While I will agree that lore is not needed in a captivating game; I think that any little bit thrown to us rabid dogs in game would have been a nice touch, especially since they do have a book published.
DarDiamond, You are most likely setting the WORLD DIFFICULTY to Ridiculous. This will make monsters extremely hard and resources very rare. This DOES NOT AFFECT AI DIFFICULTY.
Yarp, thanks for the thought, but I figured that out the 1st time I made a new game for myself. Wish that were the case. From what I've noticed the AI simply massively outproduces you when on those settings but not much more than that. I still find it ridiculously easy to beat the game on r
*COUGH*... Gimme ' real' magic please that is fun to use on ridiculous. Nuff said. I'm going back to consuming mass quantities of egg-nog & other assorted holiday spirits.
I think what would really help is some way of quickly knowing how many of a building i have in my city, and how may tiles i have left... am i missing that display somewhere?
Yup. Click on your city portrait to bring up the City Info page. Read through all the data there, you will see 1 listing for city tiles used/free. Another thing for population regarding Empire factions. If you work towards a surplus of food then never build a Slum. Instead build 4
Also since smelting is in the game, I would make that a pre-requisite for plate armor of all kinds and maybe even add in a master black smithing tech as a pre-requisite for the master plate. Same for the enchanted armor. Knowing how to make the armor is one thing, having the tools to do it is another
Completely agree
4) Kael is a hoss. FfH2 is a classic FTBS game. I will fight anyone who disagrees.
Hahaha... amen brother. I've decided to fight you to see which of us gets to fight any of those that disagrees with you. Rawr! http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171398 Gonna go and enjoy the next 16 hours replaying that classic wishing that EWoM had this good of a "hook".
1.1 scores 5.5/10 atm for myself & my group of friends. I have been a fan of SD long before I ever joined the forum community & as such jumped into this game with the expectaion that it would need work. But my expectation to play an RPSG hooked me even if this fantasy genre didin't have those creatures & monsters generally seen in many others. Needless to say that was not the case. EWoM is not a Magical Role Playing Strategy Game.
Agrre with everyone above me. I had to make a 2nd city on the opposite side of the world map from my capitol to be able to harvest/farm Wolves for my mounted troops. I'm sure some of your maps may have had a horse resource or 2, somewhere... maybe. I base this on the fact that out of 5 games now, this last game I played was the 1st one that I found wolves in... so I'm guessing you and I have been extremely unlucky. And of all 5 games, only 3 of my games had a horse resource in it. ( tha
A similar issue occurs when you change the name/portrait of heros under your control. Any duplicate hero's found in game later bug out and appear with your renamed heros info... very glitchy.
Yeah, it's prolly yet another thing on there list of things to do... Here's 1 more. If you play it on the hardest setting... say for example with 26 heros... and you need/want to buy a minimum of 5 healing potions for each... that sure as sure is a hell of alot of clicks also. But if you want those heros to survive fighting stacks of dragons or demons, or whatever, while saving your limitied amount of spellcasting for damage/debuffs spells instead of using th
Could someone please point me in the direction of threads where frogboy has said what type of things will probably not be in the game, goblins and fearies and such i would appreciate it. Trying to get a feel for the lore of the world tks.
I read the book recently Glowing_Ember . If you get
Agreed. I enjoyed the read very much. Perhaps 1 expansion will see the dominate EMPIRE (*cough, no kingdom will make it, *wink) of EWoM magically create a mighty Elemental Spacecraft and takes its place among the stars... after draining the world dry of its magical energy.
[e digicons][/e] agreed I've seen some of my units actually move off the road they are traveling on and end the turn 3 squares from where they should be when they dump themselves in a forest... having to move square by square along a road is annoying. LOL. I'm sure they know it's an issue. Just throwing my "voice" with yours in case they are unaware of the issue.
rpg strategy game.
Like the other dude who disagreed with me.. I must disagree with you.. it is not a "RPG Strategy Game" atm, regardless how much I wish it was; it is however a "Fantasy Strategy Game".
A lot of this stuff is being addressed I'm sure
StarDock has a very strong reputation on making quality games & improving on what they make. As such I have no doubt that it will get much better in the future since
click on the unit you want to build then adjust the group size and experience. - Othello
Yeah, what he said... its the little buttons in that build window menu that you have to click 1st for both amount of units in the group & a second button for the units experience lvl (veteren, elite, etc). Hope this helps.
After all this, when I go to the "team" button it is un-clickable and says that I s
Quoting glucero0, reply 7 If you enjoy boring games that have little in the way of personality or charm, yes. Otherwise, no. Do not buy Elemental. heya... I was new here... well sort of. Been around SD for a while now, just allways stayed in the shadows and whatnot. Anyways, I'm going back to the shadows... seems that people with negative views (whether constructive or not) are met with alot more hostility than I'm comfortable with. I'll check out EWoM again later down the road expecting to see what StarDock is famous for; excellent games. [e digicons]:digichet:[/e] Take care.
Cool thoughts; have fun reading everyone elses.. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
Cannot trade, purchase or equip Journyman boots on the Sovereign. Bug or intentional?
As far as I'm aware, that is supposed to be fixed now with all Sovs being able to equip the +1 movement boots. I'm totally stumped as to why you can not. As for all your other thoughts; well have fun scanning all the threads. :) Happy hunting
Wintersong, awesome work. New players will find this SO helpful. You are the 'ambassador of EWoM!' Awesome, oh, I wrote that already. OK, doubly awesome work!
New players will find this SO missleading once they play the game. Still awesome work regardless if its outdated
Add? You didn't do your homework if that's your opinion and based your purchase only on it. In any case: I was working on an update for 1.1 but I suppose that I shouldn't bother then? To force people to bother to read the forums? Because this thread was never meant as substitute of people doing their "homework". Feel free to ask a Stardock member to delete the thread. I won't be bothering with it anymore from th
EWoM is not a RPG. It has no definitive in game RPG elements in it. I have been playing RPG's since I was in diapers. (exageration ^^) If your willing to live with all of its shortfalls knowing that further down the line it will most likely turn into an awesome epic... then go for it. If you want a finished polished game and have little or no patience to wait for it then no. To be perfectlly honest with you version 1.09e was more fun for me even with its numero
Heya... its 11am and I have [e digicons][/e] so I won't flame you. (actually i wouldnt flame you even if i was sober... honest) I have not been able to find a way to upgrade older inferior untis with experience in any way, shape or form. Instead of using them as cannon fodder though I moved them all to a new city and disbanded them so they would swell that new cities population. If there is a way, then I am ignorant of it.. sorry. Perhaps someone else knows..
This add for the game is generally misleading as to the depth of the actual games selling points. The main reason I purchased EWoM is because of this add. Numerous game functions mentioned in the original post are not included in the game or are misleadingly represented. In some cases they have been completely removed from EWoM alltogether as updates, patches & new versions have been released. There is no excuse why it has not been corrected between version 1 / 1,09e / &
I have not bought this game yet as I have been lightly monitoring general word of mouth on the forums about its stabiility and game play. This new patch seems rather large and I am wondering if the game is ready for prime time yet? I realize the update just came out so I will be interested to see what everyone has to say within the next week or so...Im sure it will take some time to formulate some information on gameplay and stability. It is a game I am
