You may know a lot more than me regarding this, given that you're an older player. But I must say that all AI personalities do colonize outside their area of influence, the AI does counter my weapon types, the AI also does build GAs and trade goods. I always play on tough difficulty, which is 100% AI capability and no bonuses or penalties.

Does TotA 2.04 crash when the DL appear in a random event? I remember... many months ago, maybe more than a year that DL would appear and ruin the party. I was so scared of them I disabled mega events for a while.
You can download the latest version directly from Stardock . You have to create an account and register the game here with your serial number.
Perhaps reinstall and check files integrity? Seems like a missing files problem, which might be Steam-related. This game is very mature and stable. And also, I think you might be able to download the game directly from Stardock . You have to create an account and register the game here with your serial number. Just pray that they accept Stea
It's probably just a setting in the game lobby. No, the vanilla game is very playable and in my opinion quite balanced. I actually started playing vanilla again because I find these mods to remove some features and modify some core game designs. I only use the HRG compatible with metaverse.
I didn't know about this and I've been playing since DL. Seems fair and justified to me. This way weak civilizations can catch up with more advanced ones.
Yes I have searched and read on the forums about this issue. I don't know what to say, maybe I've encountered it and didn't notice or maybe it's a feature rather than a bug. Some people seem to believe that this penalty scales with galaxy size. I've played a fair share of games on huge and didn't notice anything odd. Perhaps you can ask on the original posts reporting this issue. Sorry I can't help mate. If I notice something in future games, I'll let y
Maybe you are referring to the fact that each subsequent tech in a research branch is more expensive then its predecessor. And this is indeed most obvious for the military techs. But this is completely normal, not a bug. If it weren't like that, you would be able to get the most powerful military techs very fast. This happens regardless of the galaxy size, as the costs of the techs are fixed values. In the tools folder of Twilight, you can find the TechTree edi
I have played many games of GalCiv II and haven't noticed this issue, if I understand correctly. Are you saying that at some point, in the middle of the game, for no apparent reason, the technology points required to research certain techs are doubled?
Then it seems TOV's one sounds more exciting. Still, I appreciate your work, I've seen how huge the file is.
I don't know what to think. Which one is better? The one by TOV has twice as many lines in it, but it's arranged differently.
Tolmekian, you also mention your mod includes a conversation fix by qrtxian but I couldn't find it. Or is it this one by TOV?
Brad I'm glad you still check out the GalCiv II forums. This still is your (Stardock's) best creation yet.
They all perform fine, pretty much like with Tolmekian's mod. I didn't actually look at how they develop their planets or what they research, but they all seem to survive ok. I figured the way they survive in the long run is related to everything else. The Torians end up very powerful most of the times, as do the Thalan. The Drengin, Korath and especially the Arceans are kind of weak. But despite what some people say, they all do colonize beyond their influence spheres. The Ic
Actually I noticed the minors build influence starbases in vanilla too, so it's not the mod's fault. But buying their influence points is a good idea actually. I am currently playing a modified version of this mod, as I said, with default AI personalities, smart minors, and I also buffed the Arceans, the Drengin and the Korath, so they have a better chance of survival. The Arceans are still the underdog but at least they have better chances with an economy
The only issue I had was the AI sending fleets to theirs death trying to destroy very powerful starbases. And also the minors constructing many many influence starbases, that was while playing the version with smart minors. Anyway, Tolmekian how's the next version coming mate? :) PS: I think this is the best mod yet for GalCiv2 and I'm enjoying it a lot. But I actually play it with the default AI personalities, so as to preserve the behavior of the races
No multiplayer! I'm not in the beta, so I didn't vote, but no... just no. Multiplayer is not for 4X games. Shooters and fast action-packed strategy games (like Company of Heroes) make a great multiplayer experience. But a 4X game takes days, even weeks to finish and sync-ing with your friends for a such a period of time is hard. Now I'm sure it can be done in such a way that it would be enjoyable, and many people would benefit from it, but for me personally, multiplayer in
Tolmekian I want to congratulate you for your mod. I have played tens of GC2 games, and now I have tried your mod, specifically v3.0 with smart minors. I like the revised techtree, especially the removal of the ultimate weapons/defenses, they seemed a little too powerful, even though the AI would research them too towards the end of the game. I also enjoy starbases that can hold their ground. What I found odd was the minors building many influence starbases... why? Can th
I definitely have no problem with a single Q. I agree with Heavenfall that a single Q feels better, but in actual play it doesn't always work well. In Galciv it just meant that instead of building a colony ship in 4 turns and then a factory in 4 turns, you were instead building both after 8 turns, which is far less efficient.
Because of the way FE will handle production, I agree that a single queue is the best way to go. GalCiv i
This is looking better then I've already hoped. I love WOM as it is now, it has matured a lot, but FE looks beyond awesome. Can you give us an idea on how much FE will cost and the discount WOM owners will get? I have to start saving up :) Thank you Brad!
There is a quest to get the other books. I know in a recent game I played I got like a level 3 or 4 quest that rewarded my sov with the terraforming spellbook. Considering how few quests there are I imagine it shouldn't be hard to get in most games.
I did not know that.
But you can't research it unless your character has the terraforming spellbook which you can only choose before the game. So it is indeed a problem. I think all spellbooks should be researchable at some point.
Turn triggered automatically even if some units can move You can fix this by disabling auto end turn, I did this since I bought the game, never used it in GalCiv II either. Borders don't update until a turn later Not related to the end turn bug. It happens to me too all the time, you just lose a turn without these resources, it's not game-breaking.
Number 8) is not an issue. It just displays the costs for 4 units, but it will only charge you for one. Try it. So it's just an interface issue. Anyway 1.39 beta is out.
1.39 beta is out! "+ Prestige penalty eliminated" :) So problem fixed.
