[The above text refers to the currently available 1.06 version of the game. If you're looking for a review of the unpatched version that shipped on disc, it's right here: "Terrible. Do not play under any circumstances. Patch immediately."]
haha. +1 lulz to Game Informer.

I don't have that many goldmines, but I've got a pretty good income in my 100 turn game. Have you been upgrading the Civilization tech tree? I think there are some gold things there. Also, when your towns level into level 2 or 3 etc. cities, are you choosing the + % to gildar or the guardian dude or the tech stuff? At first I went for tech tree and arcane knowledge upon city levelling, but I had too little gold so now all my cities give extra gold
I'm just curious - how in the world did the game launch with all these broken spells? Was there no internal testing at all of magic in the internal beta?? For a game that's called War of Magic, you'd think testing the functionality of spells and nodes would be, ya know, kinda a priority?
it sounds like spells work in auto resolve? So perhaps they didn't test spells in tactical battles?
Typical attack by a fanboy. Brad didn't go far enough with point 7. Version 1.0 is what ended up on store shelves but he wants reviewers to review the 1.05 version. Why? If 1.0 was good enough to sell then it's certainly good enough for review and let Brad/Stardock take their lumps. They certainly deserve them. I gues the Gamers Bill of Rights was nothing but BS, right?
Why? Because that's how it works.

I think AoW did the auto thing where you would actually be in the tactical map and watch them fight, and could actually turn off auto mid-battle? Or Lords of Magic? Anyway. I always do tactical.
After reading this thread I feel like throwing up. To many sickening sycophants patting Brad on the back for a disaster. His post shows nothing but severe damage control, and point #7 is just disgusting (reviewers should review what's pressed on the disk since that's when the developer says "it's ready", not the game after 5 patches). quoting post Let me say that I'm glad that most people see

http://pastebin.com/ZdTGHJ8D Think I'm doing that right. Anyhow, every few turns past turn... 12 or so, the sound stops and the game freezes. I get no message until I alt-tab and then I'm informed the game has crashed. I'm uncertain what causes it as there hasn't been anything constant preceding it. That was a proper crash. <a href="http://pastebin.com/64VuLvc0
All I ask is when a game comes out of beta and is in retail to be able to save a game and expect it to work the next day.
Oh, I agree with that. And if this had been the first occurrence, I would have no problem with your frustration. But, the fact that you had a problem by following a certain set of steps... and then followed the same set of steps not 12 hours later without reading the forums and seeing if there w
This and the other post are comedic gold. I made this thread and had devs respond telling me how to fix the problem, I tested it and posted that it did in fact work. What reasonable person would then think that a hot fix put out shortly after that would then break the solution that was just recently working? It is reasonable to think the hot fix was to specifically fix that problem for goodness sake.
Well, you know what they say

It's not exactly unheard of for patches to render saves from previous game versions unplayable. On top of that, Sothron, you had ALREADY had an issue when you updated from 1.05 to 1.06 and you just blithely updated again without checking for possible problems? Almost seems like you're asking for trouble at that point. Like the child with the stove... you'd think he'd learn after the first time getting burned?
And you don't address my "common sense" thing. Why should a 40 hitpoint hero with defense 5 take more damage from a given attack than do 4 10 hitpoint guys also with defense 5?
Easier to aim specifically at one guy than 4. If we're talking common sense.

Sounds badass. Having the paladine and takhisis as the opposing faction leaders sounds EASIER to handle. Regardless, my main interest would be in actually playing the party from Solace and going after the blue staff etc. all the way to Raistlin betraying takhisis. Any details beyond that sound like they're above my pay grade. Not sure if that's exactly your intention though. *shrug* Would try regardless of outcome, though.

Hmm. Windows 7 32-bit nvidia card. Was running fine until a memory issue? Loaded autosave and now it crashes the same way every time. Guess I'll try starting again and see if its a confluence of things in the game or a consistent problem.
yes, I read his post - why do you ask? Snarkiness doesnt become anyone, and this is the patch that is supposed to be out on day zero, which is today, as Brad himself posted it would be.
tomorrow never comes! anyway, there's a fair bit of today left

The question is, once I get everything installed and updated... if the day 0 thing isn't ready, do I start that campaign at that point, or just start playing a random map set up. /pointless comment
