Status of Demigod in Demigod Demigod Forums

Potential player here. I just found out about this game and it looks amazing but it was released a while ago so I'm wondering how big the player base is. No point in buying a PvP game if there's no one to play with. Is it large, medium, small? Can you always find a game? And anything else you think a begginner should know would be appreciated.
