Hmm, a game mode based solely on special tactical battles? Sounds yummy. [e digicons]:d[/e] You could do all sorts of things with that concept. Best regards, Steven.

Okay then, same as first post except replace "in the Day 0 release" with "as soon as possible after release". Best regards, Steven.
I (and I think Brad) would be interested to know, how many extra sales *right now*, that is IMMEDIATELY [e digicons][/e] , would happen if there was an MP setting for a tactical battle threshold like in single player in the Day 0 release. Just one MP change, that sets how big a battle is before it goes into an MP tactical battle. Other options would be worked out later
I think intentions are a greater predictor of future actions, than results from subjectively different viewpoints. Sure, intentions are a bit harder to pick, but in the case of Frogboy, there are a lot of Developer Journals to glean from. Combined with the fact that Stardock doesn't rely on Elemental instantly becoming a hit (because they are a diversified and private company) I think just wait and see. [e digicons]^_^[/e] You might be pleasantly surprised at how responsive Stard
I think currently it is just Frogboy and Co's code, but opening up the AI to players and modders would be an excellent way of improving the AI, and gaining access to many more human-hours than just the one organisation can supply. And it is true, we can mod other stuff, so why not the AI? [e digicons]|-)[/e] So Frogboy, could the AI code be opened up at some stage (sooner rather than later would be great!)? Best regards, Steven.
The box version has no activation or copy protection (so you can play it right out of the box), however for multiplayer and updates you need to use Impulse. However, you don't need to have Impulse running (or even installed) at the time you run the game. Basically, Impulse is just for getting updates and, so you can access the multiplayer servers, validating that you have purchased a legitimate copy of the game. Best regards, Steven.
Glad to see people digging the graphics... so far I do too. Also I find that stylized graphics age a lot better than realistic ones...
A bit like how HOMM2's graphics today look a lot better than HOMM3's graphics today - especially when with the fheroes2 mod you can get much more on the screen at once because of higher resolution. There is definitely a difference between higher quality, artistic graphics a
Yes, if AI and/or human players team up to fight those who have a sudden jump in their power level, this could be a good compensator for one side being lucky. I think the ideas such as suggested by the OP make a huge amount of sense. Good stuff! [e digicons][/e] What do other people think? Best regards, Steven.
How about a special Co-Op mode - all human players against all teamed AI - and tactical battles occur which are watched by all team members, and chat can occur during the tactical battles about what decisions to make. And then later on, when ;-) more than one allied player can take part in a single tactical battle, it would be even more fun! [e digicons]^_^[/e] I honestly think the greatest fun in Elemental multiplayer would be co-op against a number of allied AI opp
I agree. [e digicons][/e] Best regards, Steven.
I think this is a good idea too. [e digicons]:D[/e] Best regards, Steven.
Well, a few too many assumptions in this thread. [e digicons]^_^[/e] And you know the combination of internet forums and assume... ;-) Best regards, Steven.
I like how Frogboy never actually said "This game has LAN Support", and everyone is jumping on him as if he did. He just gave instructions on how to install the game easily on your networked machines so people could come over and play. Reading comprehension isn't that difficult, people.
However, this issue has developed momentum, whether or not it was a misunderstanding in the beginning. It needs to be resolv
I think it is likely that singleplayer games would be run from your own computer, otherwise there would need to be internet access all the time with single player. So I would say - single player games are run by own computer, MP run through Stardock servers, at least before LAN servers. Best regards, Steven.
Yes it would have been great to have a near-final beta, but that just didn't happen this time, at least. It may happen in the future. Best regards, Steven.
There’s been a lot of discussion on these kinds of topics on recent games and I thought I’d give you our perspective on it. No Copy Protection Elemental, out of the box, like all of Stardock’s other games, has no copy protection whatsoever. However, you obviously need Internet access to get updates. But then, why should this be necessary? Because Elemental, unlike our previous games, has really been designed to be a
And there will be the "odd" :P person in the middle, who is neither a troll or a fanboy. ;-) Best regards, Steven.
"Unfortunately", I didn't know how spell that word correctly. It's funny how words that are spelt incorrectly can still be read as if they were not spelt incorrectly, as long as they basically look right. :P Best regards, Steven.
Well then, just change the name of this thread to "Elemental: Minimal Copy Protection, Activation, LAN and more". I don't mind the copy protection you have (to make sure people actually buy the game themselves), but I do mind that you are calling Activation - No Copy Protection. "Minimal Copy Protection" maybe, but not "No Copy Protection". Alter this thread's title to say "Minimal Copy Protection", and I think the majority of people would not have any problem with it
Yes, I don't see why it needs to phone home (connect to Stardock) just to be able to set up LAN play and modding... shouldn't this be supported in the gold version? And I agree that if you need to connect to the internet, and have separate Impulse accounts, it is not "no copy protection", maybe "minimal copy protection" (depending on the person making the judgement). "No Copy Protection" and "Activation" just don't go together, they are a juxtaposition. It is impossible to
Paypal doesn't allow making an order and being charged later. As an alternative, you may be able to get a prepaid credit/debit card (which functions like a credit card for buying purposes) and use that to preorder. Can you get a prepaid debit card where you live? Best regards, Steven.
Unfortutunately, no matter how gloomy and lacking in hope the future looks, all we can do is the best we can. For example, there is now a super bug that even last resort antibiotics can't kill. I am just a little bit annoyed that the place where I live doesn't have recycling capabilities. I see the Australian major political parties unwilling to do even a little bit to limit damaging climate deterioration (I don't believe that climate change is a good enough phrase, because
It looks like, at least at this stage, that pre-orders get the gold version a few days early, as in this thread (under Availability). Edit: I'm sorry to see you go. Best regards, Steven.
Pre-orders may be able to download the gold version a few days early. See this thread. Best regards, Steven.
Virtually all games these days have internet updates after the gold version. I guess, if it is possible, you could get a friend with a decent internet connection to download the latest version via Impulse Anywhere, have them Archive the copy and a copy of the latest version of Impulse, and send or give it to you. Not sure if it matters who downloads the archive in the first place. Unfortunately virtually all games have updated versions via internet in some way after the go
