Yea... gotta say Novalith has turned from best 'superweapon' to lamest in a heartbeat. Pretty simple fix tho, have it destroy the planet even with the starbase upgrades. Dunno if its possible (probably not in a mod) but would certainly give this old dog some new teeth.
I actually find that the Advent is the most fun faction to play now against the AI. Simply for the challenge. You cannot simply go LRF. And the other few Advent weaknesses suddenly are glaring due to this fact. It makes every battle harder and forces you to think. I'v won some great Unfair/Cruel battles now playing as advent against TEC and Vasari foes. Its pretty much exactly as the OP says, disciples/halycon early on until you can get carriers. I agree with you GeoFan. All the TEC ships look just fine cept the kodiak's 'tank' design just doesn't work in space. The Sova does in an odd way and I agree about the dunov and Akkan... but the kodiak... no.

Back in Vanilla (when I was a noob) I had a Vasari AI use subverters with distortion to amazing effect. I was playing as Advent and it was late game so I was seriously teched/fleeted up. I was so eager to smash some Vasari skulls together and jumped a 1500+ supply fleet to where I knew their fleet was. I was expecting a bit of a slaughter and... Yea Greg thats what I thought. I always set the AI status to random so idk what he was although I doubt he was an economist. I had been lucky at the start with a great trade route line and I generally lean to the eco side of things myself. Ill try it again to see if it wasn't a fluke but you can understand my disappointment when it happened lol. But I find i'm usually quick enough to outbid them at the last second. Im surprised to hear several examples here of the AI
Yea there are some good examples here lol. Its definitely a little OMGWTF. I just recently bought Sins Diplomacy and have been loving it so far. Im not completely a noob cos I owned Sins vanilla for months but didn't have the download capabilities to update it.
