I could make a sick joke about 16., but this isn't the place.

Very nice! Would we be using film or digital here?
What was that post on the Glitch in Matrix thingy? I saw it for a moment, and then it was gone. Perhaps if it isn't there anymore, it was nothing important. Hmm, I see a new Symantec product. Oh yes, I can submit to number eleven. Hey, that's why no one likes me! What's the matter with people today? I frequently rattle off Number twelves to people, and it is quite amusing seeing those blank faces. I am indeed guilty of Number 14, and that's Stardock's fault. I, uh, mean, great blessing! <img src="http://image
Didja grab the GIMP installer?
Woo hoo! A gig of Corsair DDR400 for me! Man, that cost so much at Monarch Computer. But, now I can turn off the pagefile and we add some speed. RAM is what makes the world go round.
Yeah, the GTK is needed. If you want to install a bit easier, get the installer files from http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/ That's how I installed GIMP. Yes, it has the latest stable release and GTK links. Everything worked for me. Give it a shot.
You know, I'm going on 14 and already afflicted with 3,6,7,and 9. Ouch! Hey, at Koasati's Skinnerz Gallery there's a link to this Geek Test page. Actually, the test is quite thorough. I think I scored a 20, or around there. The problem with me is, I actually like to use my computer far too much. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by SkinBrowser!"
Well, external (or internal) hard drives cost quite a lot in large sizes. I'd rather have the burner because it is less expensive, and just one spindle of rewritables should fit my needs.
Xendre64 wants a DVD burner so he doesn't have to purchase 500 CD-RWs when he reformats his hard drive. Have you ever tried to put 30GB on a backup made totally out of rewritable CDs? Nightmares for a week. I'm getting a multiformat, but does anyone have any thoughts on certain media? Dash or plus? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powe
The Pentium 4 will be perfectly fine. I do recommend putting in a lot more RAM, though. Maybe 512-768MB. Also, you will definitely need a new graphics card to run in Tier 2 (the cool-looking mode of Longhorn.) Because Avalon and Aero are tied into Direct3D, you can't have an out of date graphics processor. Wait to upgrade your graphics though if you're okay with your current setup. <img src="http://images.star
Is TheLenko the only other Athlon user here? Come on people, Intel is LOSING the CPU race to the Athlon 64. Yes...The two As. ATI and AMD. Have them and you will have a nice machine. No performance issues with any UIS2 skins. 1GB of RAM. Spybot Search and Destroy rules! So does MSconfig and the Services snap-in. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmid
I believe there are some other threads dedicated to this subject. Do a search for them. Or just do a local search for *.scf files and link a shortuct to the one labeled Show Desktop. This does not always work, so mind that. I would use DX to have a Show Desktop link, because it always works.
I assume you are talking about IconX? In the DX config, there is a tab called IconX. The second option puts back normal icons. Also, Rainlendar is not affiliated in any way with DX. DX can display calendars, but Rainlendar is a completely different program.
Oh sure, the hardware plays a big part in rendering Windowblinds skins, but the OS also is important. Because of XP features like Hyperpaint and that WB can hook the Themes service, slowdowns are more prone to happen on a 9x/Me system. Plus, UIS2 skins require more process time that UIS1 skins. <
Mozilla Firebird is the best! Too bad SDcentral is stuck with IE. Okay, it has a couple of bugs.
No, since you're not dealing with 3D work, a new graphics card may not help. However, if you have integrated graphics, a simple expansion might help, so the graphics subsystem can have its own memory. Premiere is largely CPU dependent. I, uh, don't know of an tutorials but you know, just Google "Premier tutorial" and you'll have a couple thousand choices. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.g
Gee, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Ogg Vorbis yet. It beats the pants off anything MP3 OR MP3pro can do. I even think some songs sound good at 96kbps! But since the Nomad doesn't like OGG files, I encode ALL of my music into a VBR file averaging around 300kbps. Ah...quality. LAME is still the best encoder. Viva la WAV! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN
I'm learning Bryce... Though I stink. Hee hee, water water trees trees. And of course...the sacred orange life-saver!
Have you smurfs seen that new smurf for SmurfBlinds? Centurion? I smurfly thank the smurfy author. Ooo, must quickly install the new smurf for SmurfStudio. GTA2? Very smurfly done. Hey, this is addictive!
What is the world coming to? We have all of these "free" programs that are, yes, illegal, for those who care to argue the point. (Sure they can be used legally, but that's in the minority.) Now, the RIAA wants their customers back. To do this, they are suing the very people they want to buy from them. This sounds like the wrong way to accomplish that goal. Frankly, I am a quality freak and always buy CDs because I shudder at lossy compression. Did you know that it would take the RIAA ov
To whoever cares to put down Harry Potter: "Stick it in your ear, Uncle Roy." I can't remember where I heard that phrase, but I liked it. Frankly, I get called Harry Potter at school because some people *think* I look like the guy. Wrong!!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border
Winamp 3 stunk pretty badly. This should be really nice, because Winamp 2 was really good. Using it now, actually. Can't wait 'till the final release.
I like XnView at http://www.xnview.com It is basically an editor/viewer app. However, I DO NOT KNOW if it will retain alpha channels from PNGs (or whatever you're converting from).
Oh, BTW Styl, that was a very informational page! Thanks
