ok lets see, there are a few ways of pulling it off. I am not sure how dominion handles it, but two really good examples are Master of magic and Heroes of might and magic. They do it in different ways,in master of magic you have "units". each unit can have between 1 and 8 individuals in it. when it attacks, each individual in the unit makes an attack roll and each roll is dealt with seperately. meaning that 8 spearmen can each make a str 2 attack -> 8

I am actually overjoyed to see this thread and hoped something like this would happen [e digicons]:D[/e] I have been talking in private chat about some of this sort of thing but was always worried of stepping over a line where it seemed i was saying they could not do their job right [e digicons]}:)[/e] yes evil me EDIT i meant private messages, not chat. - no really i was being very nice about it.[e digicons]:'([/e]
i think one of the reason's i think the fallen are evil is how in the book destiny's embers the sion is looking at everything around him as a source of food for his powers [e digicons]O:)[/e]
uhg we don't need ranting posts like that please - lets try to keep this constructive. The simple fact is that higher tech buildings need to be either more efficient - or- have some unique effect or ability that a lower tech building does not have. We want Elemental to be more than a spreadsheet game so it is better to have a higher tech building with a special ability rather than a percentage boosting ability. i would lik
i find i constantly run out of population as i am always building and pumping out armies. The monestary is 1 per city i believe. The building structures frustrate me since they don't take into account the fact that you can have unlimited basic structures ( +1 materials, +1 technology, +1 arcane) so long as you have the gold to pay the upkeep. IF it was only 1 arcane lab per city and the prestige penalty for having more cities was bigger, than the monestary would rock. as it is, i only
hmm your right there, seems there were five.. odd now i have to remember where in the past 15 years or so i got that impression - been awhile since i read fellowship. I did not mean to imply that gandalf came back uner his own power [e digicons]^_^[/e] I do remember that tolkien intended for others to write stories set in his world mythology, now i just have to remember why i think that...sigh.
lemmee see what games have i been playing recently. nwn2 titan's quest x-com i'm looking at buying homm 3 and 4 been playing homm 5 took a look at gal civ 2 to see how it compared to elemental and master of orion 1 & 2 gonna try master of orion3 see what it is like starcraft 2 diablo 2 (titan's quest > diablo but won't run on my macbook) master of magic i tried battle of wesnoth but don't like
I want spiffy custom sovereign / faction options so i can rule the world from the oceans with my fish lord. We don't need any exclusionary games here, i want to be able to get up on land with my slimy fish tail and ride that horse - side saddle if i must but my fish lancers will rule the world - albeit without any grace... since they can't use stirrups... IT IS TIME FOR THE TUNA TO TAKE OVER TODAY
yay that means the disable button doesnt get reset anymore !!! AHEM - i mean, i was hungry and i ate him with fava beans and a white wine sauce.
does anyone have any commentary or is it now a dead thread ?
With regards to magic in lord of rings - their was more in there than you think. I beleive there were 7 wizards on the council - white, grey, blue, brown and 3 more that tolkien intentially did not mention so that others could write about them. They were all "amgelic" beings, immortal unless killed. Gandalf the grey dies fighting the balrog and then is reborn as gandalf the white. The elves could make magic items and taught technology to a group humans, who b
i think units should be limited to one back pack item with the addition of a new category - a satchel pack, something that is kept at the waist. These two items can be linked to the level up routines to grant bonus skills and ability points to units as the level. a ranger pack might give a ubit more movement or a pathfinding ability when the hit level 3 a sniper pack might give an aiming ability that gives +2 to damage for a round of shooting when the unit reaches lv 4
Tier 1 weapons are a simple slugfest. Each weapon should be clearly labelled in the xmls as either blunt, piercing or slashing/cutting. cuirass should give base protection helm, armlet and greaves should be used to boost this within limits. helm would give a bonus to blunt defence armlet gives bonus to piercing defence greaves gives bonus to slashing/cutting defence shield gives bonus to
ok here is an updated list of weapon and armour combinations for comparison followed by another message for comments. I will assume a base dodge of 5% for all units with a dex of 10 Tier 1 weapons with no armour this is your starting gear. club 3 attack, 0 armour dodge 5 I will write this down as 3/0 d5 staff 5/0 d5
my one cmplaint about the ability to change the element of a shard is that it makes it too easy to fulfill the requirements for the spell of mastery. Im poking around with the equipment list at the moment, then i will turn my attention to the magic. hmm also, i canèt see the whole list it goes off my screen for some reason [e digicons]:([/e] but i can cut and paste it.. lol weird
Ièm sure they will have different ai personalitie once they are comfortable with its ability to play the game :P
I care, i also care about seeing my name on the screen so i can wave at it (there i am loooook) No seriously. I really appreciate knowing that this is being looked at. EDIT: also, thet lord xia setting, that almost sounds official. Can i have that in the next update. again seriously, tks for putting this up frogboy. Maybe in the future you can publish an Elemental artwork book. that would be neat.
actually, could you please put up some red light type filters for fallen, that would be neat to see. EDIT: You can do that with the mouse wheel ... NEAT.
After reading most of this thread, i have come to a most logical conclusion. Fortran and cobol are simply far too efficient. We should go with object oriented turing as the language of choice. There is simply nothing else that compares.
New building: McPub it only gives +0.5 prestige but you get fries with that. Has an add-on building: McBar You can hire McFlunkies at the bar. These are subpar heroes that cost you food and gold in maintenance fees due to their black market dealings in selling the players resources behind your back to the ai (where *do* you think the ai gets all those extra resources ....) They have poor str and con because they tend to sit at the bar eating and drinking too much and l
wait wait wait, may have been covered already.... Are there trolls in War of magic cuz i can't remember.... I think a dev should make a ruling on this....
as an addendum to infantes suggestion, i demand that we be able to load the game onto the wii so that said groovy dancers can be trained by the sovereign using the nunchuk add on on the wii remotes. Once you get them to gain a level you will need the exercise matt for the wii to teach them new dance moves everytime they level.
just to be clear 1.19b is the beta for ver 1.2, so you have it already.
heavenfall your a umm godsend... yeah sounds funny.[e digicons][/e]
arg i did not inlude accuracy on my request for weapon info incidentally, i believe the order of events you would be referrring to is attack, chance to hit, see if you hit, check if dodge kicks in, check if penetration kicks in, roll damage, roll armour roll for damage reduction if there is no penetration. I want to follow up this post but i can't until i get full weapon info. (beats dead computer with a sledgehammer) EDIT: You know, if no-
