Hmm totally different experience from me, i was thinking that the minor nations should be invulnerable and serve as a special shop for unusual things who will sell to anybody. Here's a question though, if you set the game up to play with 10 ai players will there be a minor faction ? I'm not even sure how many minors there are. do they retain there special shop status if they are taken over by someone else ? maybe we can make a list of what is available a

This is great guys and gals, keep it coming. Can anyone think of any other strategies the ai has trouble dealing with ? I find Arcane weapon very useful because it breaches the difference in armour versus weapon damage and lets weaker weapons tear through armour which the ai does not see coming. crude bows become very effective with arcane weapon if you get this early.
research the farming tech and build more huts. food gives hut huts give people people give money sometime adventure tech will give you a gold mine, as well as the adventure tech for food. in the games i am playing now, i just found 3 shards and 4 food resources within a screen and a half of my starting spot on a large map. Could just be the luck of your draw. invent booze tech and cars tech. d
he used to be such a slender frog Better than this i suppose
I would have to say that in order to appreciate the situation more, you have to pay attention to what frogboy has been saying over the past several months (weeks?) in no particular order: 1. They decided to create new game engine, in so doing they are suffering growing pains since the engine does not initially live up to their own expectations so they have had to compromise on ideas. 2. Working long hours in the week, lack of sleep led to poor judgement
bump. please add to this so we can improve the game faq.
exactly, when used this way it is a potent spell to use before combat - it just does not say that in the spell description and you might not notice the change in numbers in the corner as you walk over different types of land tiles if your not looking for it.
Early Gameplay for Elemental Faq version 1.0 December 15, 2010 I wrote this to help new players get used to the new environment of the game for version 1.1 since there are several game mechanic changed that occurred over the beta testing leadin up to this change. There are usually 2 resources placed near the starting location although there seems to be a 1% random cha
Perhaps a dragons lair, for example, could exert its own zone of control. said dragon would use this zone to gradually subjugate the world to its own liking - fire dragon turns it into lava world for example, and then the dragon gets the bonus for fighting in its zoc and you get a penalty. The dragon wouldnt venture out of its zone, so you wouldn't have to worry about it wandering out and eating the peasants. Now the dragons children on the other hand.... [e digicons]:-"[/e]
you're right, im not familiar enough with the late game stuff simply because my games never last that long - i blame the ability to research recklessly down the tech tree in any direction i want to get a godly advantage over the ai. As it is, when i get warstaves + arcane weapon +groups thats good game its over.... I dont even need all of that, it's just gravy to end the game...
[quote who="Cruxador" reply="29" id="2846386"] Quoting Nenjin, reply 26You could also add faction traits that speed up research of a given type, addressing some of the pacing issues, instead of just putting the design through the compactor. Putting things through the compactor would do nothing. What would have to happen to encourage specialization would be that the increase in benefits from more advanced tech in each given area would have to outpace the increase in time researching
argh! My cay just swallowed 2 feet of yarn. The gift of cat throw up is not what i wanted this Christmas. Don't put this in a goodie hut plz. Off to the vet i guess to make sure he didnt make it three feet of yarn - better than the chicken bone we thought he ate...
out of curiosity, if you need the internet connection to play the beta, what is the purpose of the connection if you still need send them the files ?
darn that internet linked beta - who knew what bugs it could cause...
Thanks for the link.. i never did figure out which techs actually raise it in all the time i've put into this game. Something that should be mentioned in the text of the particular techs IMHO. ^^^^^^^^^ Please this, people keep mentioning it again over and over DEREK please please please fix this it should take 15 - 20 minutes and save a lot of stress.
perhaps someone didn't do their homework that day at school?
At one point in the forums i was trying to ask about armour pieces. I read that the helmet gave full protection against blunt damage, random versus pierce and slash. Another piece gave full protection against blunt and another against piercing, i think it was arm bands and leg pieces. The chest piece alway gave random protection. Was this not implemented? This was the area where they seemed to put the rock paper scissors action into combat and i thought it was
It;s my little addition to the game, i hacked stardock and modified their game code to do that. [e digicons][/e]
I have had this happen without any of my units dying, or even taking any damage.its an odd one. Sometimes i will move a unit, make an attack, and then that's it, i have to auto to end it. very strange. It has also happened to me that all my units have taken their turns, and then i can not skip to the next turn, have to auto to end the fight. maybe it could be related to moving the units in a different order than the game wants you to use them (shrug a guess) &nbs
Right. Left handed.
What, the ambassadors run away screaming you say ? That can't be good for our political mojo....
out of curiosity, is this so you can play left handed ? What would the purpose of this change be ?
It's an unusual feature that i don't think i have seen in other games. That is not a complaint, just an observation. I can understand teh point of view that a scout moves into an army and then stops to move at the same speed as the army, but i think it is important to have scouting units that can rove around ahead of the army and dip back in and out of it as needed, which is the customary role of messenger.
the purpose of the thread is to try and improve the situation. I had more written message, but i erased it and decided not to share my thoughts. I've already had my say on certain things and don't need to repeat myself.
I'm hoping Derek pulls out a "big checklist of things to go over" (TM) and uses it to bang heads together until they get it right. Too much of the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing has affected this game. Magic research has become so slow i have never gotten to the point where i could compare the spells to each other. By the time i get anything worth using in combat the game is over. Magic has been completely nerfed in the game in every way at this point. *IF
