Turkwise you are my hero! Tabbing in the fields is exactly the issue. It's inserting an invalid character that can't be written out. We will fix it! (not in time for this weeks patch, but in the next one).
We have a fix for the Barren planets/adaptable issue, but it didn't make it in time for this patch. It will be in the next patch. I don't have any examples of Ideology points not being deducted. If you could get me some reproducible steps or a save game with the issue I would love to check it out.
