My guess would be, because nothing matches what they have. They don't bother throwing away peoples accounts if they are not there. I have many friends who have passed, some many years ago and their accounts are still there. Same with other friends who for whatever reason hadn't been there for years. They came back and let everyone know. You know you can still download your wallpapers even if you are not signed in.
