Well well well. Another GUIO, another another set of "the wrong person won!" diatribes. :( Congratulations to the winners! All the skins were of a very high standard. I'm disappointed that Rokey's icons didn't win, but they are still excellent! :) :) Unfortunately, some people don't seem to realise that when you enter a competition you have to abide by the judges choices. ...and don't forget, people just like to change their skins regularly. Use them for a few weeks, then use a different one. The fact that the newer skins add functionality or are more useable is possibly secondary to the 'new look' factor. Skins are foremost a visual thing.

Just as a matter of interest, and by way of a comparison, how much are PC magazines selling for in the states? They cost about £5 or £6 here, so paying $8 is around the same price as buying a magazine in the UK. And much more fun, obviously!

One problem with WindowBlinds in comparison to Winamp is that your design is going to be limited to only a small amount of screen space - the frame of a window; the buttons on a dialog etc. whereas Winamp has a discrete 'space' of its own for a designer to fill however he wants. And within the space you have, you are restricted to certain forms - triangular buttons aren't going to work, for example. The trick is being creative within those bou

Jut taking a quick peek through the library... Some are monochromatic, but not all of them. Some have flat buttons, but not all of them. Some have simplistic formats, but not all of them. I think the WB skins submitted up to date reflect a fairly broad set of styles which are 'in vogue' at this time - flat 'illustrated'; minimalistic; glossy plastic etc. Maybe there just isn't one which you prefer. I've got to add my support for what is one of my favorite apps ever. Like Vector, Skwire and Chris say, it's as stable as a rock. I used it at home and work for a few years and found that I couldn't do without it. There are lots of skins for it (I even did a few myself!), some large, but lots of compact ones.
