Yes, Sins is a very great game: What I love most about Sins: Epic scale Cool Sci Fi Battles Awesome panorama.... hide the interface and watch stars and planets..... it looks awesome and the background alone is fantastic..... they really did a great job in bringing in the beauty of space and its vastness. No minidumps or similar problems in any of my games. [e digicons][/e] Things I noticed so far: Vasari Rebels allowed.. although clearly on probation. Their Titan is still very very powerful and might need further nerfing in the future. Now with the starbase - hopefully - fixed its power becomes more clear. Advent Loyalists are the new favourite faction for Advent players. You see more people t
Make sure that you are having everything resarched in the diplomacy tree. It should ne noted that there are times when you cannot force an AI to ally with you... sometimes you just cant get enough relations.
And the idea of making its group shield a passive is a wonderful idea and a terrible idea IMHO. It is a good idea because then the Ankylon would better fit a role of a supporting ship in the fact it would always be protecting its fleet from at least some of the oncoming damage. A smart player will save those hard hitting abilities until after your group shield wears off. Best example here is a Ragnarov's Overdrive Snipe shot. Ouch. Just ouch.
Actually the new buffed DE engine seems to work quite nicely in this capacity, too. While it takes a lot longer, there is very little one can do to stop the effect. And against loss due to culture no starbase does protect.
As a quick forum search concerning lag will reveal the problem is more or less known. The game engine of Sins dates back to 2006 or so where multi core systems werent the norm and nobody even thought about 64 Bit. Sins is a 32 Bit single core game and there is very little you can do to change that. Your graphic card should be absolutly capable of handling the game so I assume the lag is CPU induced. Overclocking does help as
If so many capships and a Titan is not enough to repell the culture there have to be several culture centers at close by planets. You need to attack a few more planets and destroy their culture centers. Keep in mind that with Global Unity you need to actually wipe out any Advent Loyalists planets to entirely remove their culture spread. Once their culture centers are destroyed, colonize the planet, build one tradeport and the maximum possible ammo

That means you can immediately jump from a planet with a phase stabalizer to where ever you fired at. This means the Vasar

Wail is still an absolute monster, but this change will make AR players more restricted on where they might want to Wail... Wail was powerful and got nerfed to some extent. Still, unless you use it on a Terran planet the resulting infrastructure damage is well within acceptable parameters. You just have to watch for your fleet. Unless your ally has a fleet
There is a stock map called Systems of War that has such a setup.

Depends on kind of humor I guess. Since you usually hear them quite rarely I dont mind the stereotypical sounds. Besides, people watch Pirates of the Caribbean, vote for the Pirate party on some occasions and then do participate in what is called modern piracy on the net. [e digicons];P[/e]
The pirate voices are a little.. unrealistic. What are the odds humanoid robotic creatures will say "Shiver me timbers"? Anyway does anyone know how to modify it. Perhaps giving it Borg voices maybe?
Where do they say "Shiver me timbers?" I dont know that soundfile and neither does the wiki. </p

This is the first mod i've used for Sins, and I mostly decided to do so after getting kind of bored with vanilla. Definitely could not have picked a better choice, i like this game so much more now. Only one small problem seems to have popped up, and I haven't seen anyone address it yet, so i figured i'd try my luck. <b
Also of note is the fact that Advent Loyalists get a research upgrade for their carriers which allows them to "convert" nearby enemy mines (though this makes no sense, it is very handy).
Indeed. This is by far the best anti mine ability.... good range and very quick. The only drawback is that it does not reduce late game lag, as the mines are still there.
All mines are "phased out" regardless of faction. There are only 2 ways to clear a minefield: 1. Use a scout (Arcova Scout Frigate, Seeker Vessel, Jikara Navigator). It can reveal mines within a certain radius (displayed if you select the scout and however over the passive). Once being revealed the mines can be targeted and destroyed. 2. Give one or more DURABLE ships a move order to every single mine..... they will detonate
