Thanks for the reply, but I don't seem to have a menu anything like yours:

Something's changed (and upgrading to Fences 4 hasn't solved it): I don't seem to be able to move my Fences anymore. I think there used to be a little icon I could "grab" at the left side of the heading of a Fence that would let me drag the Fence to a new location on my desktop, but that icon seems to have disappeared. Did I do something to hide it? I've got desktop icons that are now "behind" three of my Fences and I can't move the Fences to get my i

Purchase or Subscription? in Fences Stardock Forums

Please excuse this "newbie" question: For my $29.99, what is it I am getting: The outright purchase of the Fences software, which I am then able to keep using for as long as I want? Or a subscription that requires further payments every year or so? I ask because more and more software developers (eg. Quicken) seem to be moving (for understandable reasons) to the subscription model. Thank you.

Does anyone know: If I purchase Fences 3, or Object Desktop, and install it, will it automatically re-create the Fences I already have in Fences v.1? Or will all that be obliterated - along with the icons within each Fence?

And yet when I click Check for Updates , I'm told I'm "up-to-date". Can I not upgrade from v.1? Even if I'm willing to pay? Seems like a flawed business plan.

Thanks for the reply, fictitious. The trouble is that I don't anywhere see a Settings option. Down the left side of the screen, I have six choices: Fences , Appearance , Organize , Tools , Help and About . None of those - when clicked on - offers a Settings option or a Pages option.
