Nvidia GTX 460. Latest drivers. It does happen in 1.01, also.

> 60 Played D&D and then AD&D. Playing 3.5 with a group now. Found Civ series at CTP2. Found GalCiv2 and Stardock when CalCiv2 come out on Steam. As an old D&D purist, this is the first time I have tried anything like an RPG game. Loving it.
Some perceived improved framerate and smoothness in tactical battles. Defiite improvement on watcheing unit mve along road in zoomed out map. I have a medium machine. That was very choppy before. It is not perfect, but very noticeably much less choppy. Thanks.
I don't see a problem. The insta roads are magically built; it's not a set of bulldozers and paving equipment. In a game where people accept that we can raise and lower land itself, why is an instant road a further stretch of the magical imagination? I even like the strange road shapes that get formed. They are interesting base patterns that I can fine tune for efficiency with a road building unit, if I really need. As for the OP wh
I'd rather think of my archers as very strong and shooting right through the obstacles. But everybody has their own favorite method of visualization... In the meantime, one more reason to wait impatiently for an expansion!
I will confirm it was in 1.0. I have a middle range graphics card and thought it was just my system. It would clear up if I zoomed in. I haven't seen it yet in 1.01.
Wouldn't it be easier to use some sort of range based accuracy penalty rather than a range restriction? Something like 50% accuracy reduction should convince people to move. The AI logic becomes simple: If in range of target move backward to edge of range radius (maintain safe distance from melee) shoot If out of range of target move forward towards edge of range radius (attempting to
Quoting erischild, reply 374 I can tell I am an ignorant fanboy because so many people here feel comfortable calling me that and other names as a method of persuasion I have followed this thread and others like it. It seems to me that you are the one insulting people that do not like or use Steam. Nice try.
I am not the one calling people "fanboy". If I did the opposite somehow, then
One thing about a save scummer though they will always make excuses to justify their cheating themselves. Xia is correct though as long as you're cheating yourself it doesn't matter except when you come to the forums and proclaim the game too easy because you cheat. (save/reload) and want the developers to make the game more challenging while you cheat. lol that ain't gonna happen evah I don't think.
&n
Yet another ignorant fanboy using Steam here. I can tell I am an ignorant fanboy because so many people here feel comfortable calling me that and other names as a method of persuasion, so it must be true. I can have no opinion of my own, it is not allowed. I can only follow the dictates and thought patterns of those who claim Steam is a digital dictatorship. All of us who use Steam are idiots and do not deserve the joys of playing the games we do. We should be as
I hope this isn't obvious, but in your description you do not mention uninstalling the CD version of GC2. The installations are different enough between Steam and CD that I would expect that Steam might not do a clean uninstall for you. If you manually uninstall GC2 until Windows is satisfied neither version exists, then Steam might be able to do a clean download and install for you.
I like the notice when city is idle idea, and then you can reference the sleeping city indicator. I like the sleeping city indicator. It is intuitive and pretty obvious and visible. On a similar reasoning, I would like better notification of improvements that need updating, especially on shards. Clicking on each resource to see if it needs upgrading, or looking for that air shard hidden in the corner of empire does not add to game enjoyment for me. I w
I am just so special that in one of the dungeon tactical fields I can stand behind a marble column and shoot arrows and spells directly through the marble column at enemies that should be obstructed. It looks very epic and picturesque. It looks very wrong. The same is true of open field tactical maps with those rolling hills. Arrows go straight through the hills. Open field shots should be drawn as a ballistic arc not a straight line. Short range shots shou
Thank you, thank you to the grammar checkers! Grammar is such an immersion breaker for me. Thank you!
It's even easier with Steam. I open my game and it has already been updated!!! Nice that some companies want to make all this clean and easy for us.
Fireball and flame dart for attacks. Heal has been critical. I am liking Focus. City nchantments are good. Used tutelage on my soverign. Haste and grow are good. I like blind as a concept, but it is hard to tell just how much it is doing for me. Used land manipulation spells to cut a pass through some mountains to reach a quest on the other side of someone else's borders. That was fun.
Voted good, waiting expectantly for it to edge to excellent. Thanks for letting me participate in this beta. It has been as interesting as actually playing the game. Any comments I would have are represented in better description than I could manage. If you get multiplayer working, I fear my DnD playing family members are going to gang together to thrash me. The fact that I find myself pushing them on to that challenge is the best feedback I can
The concept seems to be that the races are aware of each other through some sort of sub-space radio that allows communication throughout the game. You do need to research technologies to actually talk to each other. As said above, there are options that affect this concept. The blind exploration option lets you decide whether that subspace radio revealed original home planet locations or not. The AI is out-teching and out-expanding you because it
Do you remember the rock band called the "The"? You need to trademark the PC game "Console" and the console game "PC". That should keep you in license fees forever. [e digicons][/e]
Would I want to pull out my Android in an odd moment and check out Galciv technicalities? I can't see that happening. The scheming I do with Galciv seems less rules detailed than situation detailed. I can see having it as a handy reference while playing, but it would be as an alternative to using alt-tabbing to some reference web page and not much else. I would download it for the wonderful geek obsession factor. [e digicons]:)[/e]
As someone who has no idea what "Elemental" is but is fascinated by just the title "Fallen Enchantress", I say go with that. I have never tried a magic based game before, but based on my recent discovery and enjoyment of GalCiv2, I am very interested in this. I am going to have to get one of my family members who is into DnD and such to coach me on spells. :)
Two experiences that seem to relate to this interesting topic. First let me say that Pong has to be the answer beyond a certain age. :) I did a stint in the US Navy in late Vietnam conflict times. Uncle Sam sent me to his new fangled computer rooms instead of the rice paddies. I didn't argue. Nobody knew what computers were, but it was better than shooting people. I ended up on this future systems test ship that would be antique by pres
My understanding is that happiness is also dependent on Planet Quality. The other planet probably has a higher Planet Quality than your home planet and can support an overall larger population because of that.
Yeah, but is there any kind of rough approximation to use? For instance, it takes me 7 years to dominate the galaxy. Was I a ravenous cancer gobbling up the stars, or a glacier creeping along the parsecs? Is Advanced Colonization a decent indicator I have shifted my empire to a whole new level? Can you measure your progress as a warmonger by the hull size you support? I think accurately comparing my play against other players would be both
I think you got very unlucky and got an event at a time where it would be a bigger challenge to handle. If you play Civ for the challenge, you might play out this game. If you are looking for a more representative first impression, you might try a complete re-roll for new map.
