This is looking good, and exactly what I was hoping for, it will give you full battlefield awareness and maintain a clear view of whats going on. Something you could do is make the outline of the heat map brighter so you can have a lower opacity in the body of it so you can see the terrain better. Also a directional arrow that pointed in the direction that it was moving might be handy, though if you have an overlay when you press shift or somethin

Hear is an idea, what if you did a supcom type strategic zoom but had a small UI element that displayed when there where icons on the screen, this popup would have overlay buttons in it so you could display only certain elements if you wanted to, like only capital ships, or only structures, or only engineers, ect, so if you where looking for something you wouldn't have to sift through a sea of icons. My feed back regarding the current zoom level . After spending a few hours playing AOTS messing around with the zoom I was fine with the current zoom level until my base got bigger, having played sup com for years I never scroll sideways on the map, I use supreme commanders strategic zoom to navigate the battle field, zoom out from one location and zoom back in at another, it makes game play very smooth and efficient. I think the strategic zoom really was the m

I like What I'm seeing so far, and my only real concern atm is what yous are going to do with the "strategic zoom" or your version of it, My suggestion would be make it just like the sup com strategic zoom except as you zoom out large clumps of units would turn into single icons that represened where your army's are, I will draw up an example of my idea soon. I believe the Camera is one of the most important parts of a large scale RTS and it must be done right, if you do
