Suse is a Linux operating system that runs on PCs as a dual boot to your existing Windows OS or as standalone. KDE is a gui desktop interface that runs inside Suse linux, as also Gnome and all the X systems. I use Suse 8.0 Professional.
I think I read in one of the Linux mags the very thing you just said. I spent the whole of last summer in Suse, and found it "as is" about all I needed. I do try to keep abreast of any really useful stuff, but yes, after wading through alot of it, there really isn't much there unless your really into development.
I have been struggling with things like this myself. I have used Suse 8.0 w/KDE 3.0, and came to the conclusion that this upgrade wasn't as necessary as I thought. Someday I will figure it out, but in the meantime, any installs I do are done with either the Manager, or with a shell.

It must be the ice storm between here and there, I can't upload, download, yet this board seems to work fine. ??? And why is it my skin browser will work one day then not the next,I make no changes on my end of things? Anyone else experiancing these problems?

Dang, I forgot the question. After files upload, and then a "cannot find server" message appears, what happens to the upload? When I return to the uploader, all the files are gone and I then need to start completely over, why is that?
I have been busy today uploading a series of wallpapers called: Jake's Lights Best of the Best from my Pure Mathematical Expression Series. They are 4.75MB zips containg 7 wallpapers in two sizes, 1280x and 1024x and will expand to 42MB when opened. There are 5 sets, but for some reason the last two attempts at uploading the 5th have been cut off at the very last moment. This is very frustrating because it takes me almost 45min to upload 1 zip. But I will try again later
