I can't see it either in FF3... I had to use IE :SURPRISED:

Thanks Shadowjack... Turning on the tasks pane DID cause the folder backgrounds to show up. But is this supposed to be required? I didn't read anything about it. And it seems to be a high price to pay: I keep the tasks turned off because I don't like losing all that real-estate to that junk. Can explorer backgrounds be used WITHOUT the folder tasks enabled?? (And neophil, get your own thread! :/ )
Here you go, Neil... Thanks! I did the update through SDC, and WB was not running/active when I updated, so there should have been no problem replacing files. Have rebooted several times since, of course. And "I want skins to be able to apply textures to the back of explorer windows" in Advanced User Settings IS checked. I've tried with that setting both ways. WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.1 (build 55 x86) WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
Thanks for responding Philly... Unfortunately, what you suggested did nothing for me. Resetting to default first did nothing, and playing with transparency had no effect. Judging from what you described, it would appear there are some "issues" with this feature. Does anyone have this working 100% correctly on XP that can make a suggestion?
I just updated to WB6.1 via SDC because it looked like such a nice upgrade. I was especially looking forward to the return of the "explorer backgrounds" feature that was removed years ago. Unfortunately, although the interface is there to change explorer backgrounds, and it all seems to work properly (including the little warning about explorer background transparenct on XP) when I click apply changes, nothing happens. My explorer backgrounds do not get skinned. Pe
I like that Windowblinds 6 has the ability to handle wallpapers, but it has one limitation that makes it a bit clumsy for me... WB6 will only allow to add an entire directory to the wallpaper list. Now I, like many people I imagine, have my photos organized on by drive into folders; in my case, by "subject". So photos from a trip to Paris are in the Paris folder, photos from the Grand Canyon are in the Grand Canyon folder, etc. The problem comes if I only want to u
Those things may be true and they may be poor coustomer service . . but they are not wrong Sorry, Zubaz, but they ARE wrong. Something doesn't have to be illegal to be wrong. A basic tenet of both law and common sense is that one cannot execise free choice or give free consent when under duress. If your job says you use certain software products, and sometimes you have to take work home with you, you don't have a real choice that you can do something
It is wrong to pirate software. That is true. It is also wrong for companies to gouge consumers, charge U.S. customers 3 times what customers in some other countries pay for the same product because they think we can afford it, add software to our PCs without permission that harms functionality on our PCs, abuse the court system by suing grandmothers for things they didn't do, use lawsuits to extort money from people, and deny people the right to use as they see fit something they've p
Oh come on....
Actually, Maxthon 2 is partially skinable by WB. Maxthon 2 has a skin mode called "XP Native". If you use this mode, WB is able to skin the window frame, menus, and toolbar buttons. However, there are problems. The windowframe is fine, but some menu-related graphics and styles are not picked up. For example, WB cannot change the Maxthon2 menu font. Also, the toolbar buttons are skinned improperly by Windowblinds. Buttons that have a drop-down function are treated by WB as a compoun
The problems with having IX and DX run at startup were solved a year ago... Please take a look at this post: https://forums.wincustomize.com/?forumid=168&aid=119464#922623 It involves using the Stardock MCP, and identifies the workarounds necessary to deal with its quirks. RedQue might want to take a look at it before he writes his "tutorial". Cheers, Will
It's a fascinating model, and I would love to see this implemented correctly. Zubaz is right about the method of interaction, but I'd take it one step further... Although being able to toss and grab documents as you would on your physical desktop is very intuitive and efficient, I think it only becomes practical for the virtualization shown in the video when the next logical step is also taken. In the real world, when I pick up that paper
Neil, I did some experimenting with different driver versions to try and shed some more light on these issues, and here's what I came up with: The menu animation issue does NOT occur with the stock VGA driver for XP. Using that driver you can watch 5 different menus fade away if you move fast enough; it works beautifully. The problem DOES occur, however, on all recent ( T
You can get TweakUI, or X-Setup, among others. Either of those can hide whichever of the standard desktop icons you chose. TweakUI is available here: Link The free version of X-Setup is available here: Link Have fun... -Will
Neil, thanks for looking into this... Ok, well regardless of how deep the animation queue actually is, why am I seeing that behavior with the menu animations? If more than one "outgoing" animation is active at once, it gets messed up on my screen. I'll try to get some screenshots in here: Here's what happens with WinFX menu animations problem I was describing: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/will_rose/menu1
Well for starters, that looks like Windowblinds 4, not Windowblinds 5. If you're using StardockCentral, I would completely uninstall Windowblinds4, then install Windowblinds 5 via Stardock Central.
Thanks for the feedback Neil... It's too bad it affects everything, but I thought that might indeed be the case. Here's a brief list of programs I've excluded because WinFX gives them fits: Photoshop CS ObjectBar QuickTime Player 7 Shareaza WallMaster Pro WaveLab (Steinberg) WBCONFIG.EXE (the Windowblinds config screen, current version) Windows Media Player 9 I have some others, but they're
There appears to be a conflict between two of WindowFX's options. In the Advanced settings of the "Animations" section, selecting "Never use open" or "Never use close" also affects the corresponding Menu Animation. For example, I prefer to have "Never use open animations" checked because I've found a lot of programs lock up if their window doesn't appear right away. If I do this, and have Menu Animations enabled in WFX, I only se
I didn't see anything in Brad's post that said anything about OD subscribers not having access to WinCustomize anymore... I doubt that will change. Beyond that, there's plenty of free content on this site, and that's not going away, nor is anyone forcing a user to buy "premium" or "paid" skins. It's up to the consumer to decide whether to buy them or not. If people want to try to charge for some of their skins to make some money,
Thanks to everyone involved with maintaining the site... It looks like some exciting times, and a lot of work, are ahead!
Yes, it would be nice to hear from Jeff as to what's happening, if he's still around...
Is that a good surprised or a bad surprised, Bichur?
Ever since IconX was split off of DesktopX, many people have complained of startup related issues with these two programs: DX could be set to start automatically with windows boot, but IX could not; IX would no longer automatically when DX was loaded; starting IX after DX was already running caused DX to reset, causing all objects and scripts to reinitialize along with a perhaps considerable delay. Although it's been a year, I haven't seen a
Thanks Neil... I downgraded and that fixed the problem. For other readers, 5.01 build 62, dated 3/29/06, is the good one.
Thanks Kris... Can you let me know if there's a fix or workaround? I'd appreciate it.
