Hey - I might have something for you. Navigate to your save game files (in your documents folder, most likely), and delete the most recent autosave. In Steam, turn off cloud syncing on Star Control. You may have to do that before you delete the autosave. That fixed it for me yesterday evening. Nothing about that ANYWHERE on here, but it worked for me. Edit - Let me know if it works, just 'cause I'm curious!
Update - I tried to start a new game, which worked, and as soon as I tried to save it crashed. Currently unusable.
Hello. Pretty disappointed here. Computer ungracefully shut down, and since then the game errors out each time I try to load my latest save. I have followed the steps from the troubleshooting thread, including changing page file to Windows managed, reinstalling directx, reinstalling the game entirely, trying a "clean start" with a new user account within Windows, deleting the settings file, and no matter what, it crashes the instant I click load. Hooray! I really want to be a founder for this game - SC2 was my favorite game as a kid, and I've played through it numerous times over the years. I wish I'd known about the founder options in December!
