Downloaded from Steam - game not running in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

I recently bought a new computer and tried to install GC2 from the CDs, but realized that it wouldn't work on Windows 7. I then downloaded the game from Steam, however it still isn't working. I don't get an error message or anything. What happens is when I try to start the game, the screen will flash 4 times and then a large portion of the screen will stay black.
