At installation of the laptop 2 months ago is was installed properly. Downloaded from my account page. I always reboot after an installation of Fences. But I will try it again. BTW, my screenshot is exactly the same as yours, only in Dutch language. 🇳🇱

Hi Basj, I use Fences version 6.20, the latest. Windows 11, 25H2, build 26200.7623. The last time my icons moved was indeed after a reboot. But als when I place a new shortcut or program inside a fence, and than start working on other things, I saw the shortcuts appearing on my Desktop, and later on some shortcuts were relocated to another fence. But it's difficult to reproduce. And no, I did not select any shortcuts do move or so. Grtngs J
Hi, As a Fences user for many years now, I still like it. But... All the extra gimmicks are making it unstable. Icons replacing itself, found an icon back somewhere floating on the desktop, not in the Fence where it belongs. Sorting within the Fences changes after reboot. (that was solved somewhere last year [2025] but has returned...). Sure, I like giving different colors to the Fences, but it's not really neccessary (for me). Folders: I don't use it, can't figure

I have set that 'per monitor' setting already, and still the icons wihin in the Fences switch places when switching resolution.
In 5.80 I still have this issue: Run a program in a different screen resolution ( e.g. from1920x1080 to 800x600) and ending that program will return Fences, but inside all the icons are in a random order (or whatever order they are, it is not an alphabetic order or so...). The only thing I can do than is to restore a snapshot. (and that was also a surprise finding it where it went, but others already mentioned that) I hoped that 5.80 would be better than 5.54 in that behav
A question about this: I have the 5.54 version, but when I check all my installed programs, Fences 4 is also still installed. Why? I have about the same problems as mentioned above, but what happen when I uninstall Fences 4. Or better: remove both versions and reïnstall Fences 5 (maybe even the beta 5.59)?
Thanks! I now see the problem: in the 'Sort by' you've set 'By name' and than is visible 'Maintain sorting' in the menu. But I have 'sorted' my own order, and I need to keep it that way. No ordering alphabetioc, date, size etc. Just how I placed them. But in the case of 'None' there is no option 'Maintain sorting' or maybe 'Maintain placement'. Maybe that is the whole problem with a lot of people? The back-up settings are exactly what you showed. Works fine. Mayb
Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Build 22631.3810 Fence 5.54 Oke, I've been here before and tried to explain what happens: I arrange all fences and all icons inside the fences. In previous versions (before the new engine) the icons where always on the same place. Now, when I use (an old) game that works in a lower resolution (800x600 instead of my normal 1920x1080) and after ending the game, the fences are still inplace, BUT most of the icons changed places inside the fences.<b
Reading all this, I think Stardock has introduced a bug with the new engine. As a retired developer I know that very well! My Fences on W11 22H2 sometimes randomly switch places (within the Fence). Earlier I was told to put back the snapshot... That is a workaround, not a solution. The old 5.04 engine worked fine, so I think that one has to be compared with the new one and find out what the annoying differences are. Good old bug trapping.....

I have the same problem. I sometimes play an older game in low resolution (and that is why I only discovered this today), when leaving the game all the gence on the right side of the screen where placed more to the left, overlapping the Fences there. But a solution of restoring a back-up is only temporarely, because next time it happens again. And I really don't like a work-around every time. All this started after the last update of Fences. I use Win 11, 23H2.

I don't know who made the Dutch translation (I tried myself too, but someone else already did [e digicons]|-)[/e] ). There is a small error in the translation file nl.lng : Wrong : "&Hibernate"="&Slaapstand" Correct: "&Hibernate"="S&luimerstand" I will scan for more errors, but haven't found one yet.
Well, I need to know too, because I started the Dutch translation for myself for version 1.01: But it is not even complete now!

Hmm, a system restore is not so handy for me, I do some development and I really don't know which one to take. Better wait for the fix or swith of Start10 temporarely.

Hi Aemony, I use Start8 1.01 and whitin a second I have a result on the text 'remote'. Sorry no image, but I got items from Programs, Configuration settings, Documents and my music folder. Did you stop Windows searchindexer.exe? That could cause your problem. Gr
I have a simular problem with version 1.01. When I click on the Start button and than on 'Windows 10 menu', nothing happens. The Windows 10 menu is not showing. Also, the CTRL+Windows key is not working. Anyone got an idea? Jaap
