Own Fences but now have Win10 laptop. Install issues in Fences Stardock Forums

I have purchased and upgraded Fences for my then Windows 7 desktop. I had trouble reinstalling it, but someone helped my through it. They warned me that when I'm ready to install what will be my second instance of Fences onto my laptop, I should deregister it first. Your answer is honest, but quite frightening. If I have to worry that the next time I do a Windows Update Start10 may crash so badly that I'll have to do a complete system restore, well, I'm not sure I'm willing to take that chance. This is way too complicated. I have tried to find the last snapshot to copy it to a memory stick before reinstalling Windows 10, but I can't find where they are stored. How about just using an new button: BACKUP/EXPORT CONFIGURATION or BACKUP/EXPORT (a specific) SNAPSHOT. Either way you can select any standard Windows "hard drive - style" location such as a DVD-R/DVD-RW or a memory flash drive.
