There could be a possibility. It looks like one of the only ways that I know of that they can do that is if they make your computer load your display drivers before the boot screen. Because by what I know, your system boots up like it normally would in Safe mode till it loads your display drivers then it switches to higher resolution unless you keep it low, but I doubt that. That might take them a while to get around and solve the higher resolution colors. But never know with them. They

I forgot to give more detail. If you right click on the icon, go to properties, then make sure it's on the shortcut tab. You want to make sure the target is filled in at least with the exact directory path of the .exe file your trying to run. Question is, are you sure it was the bootskin? The only way for you to really find out is if you went into safe mode and deleted it and was able to start up windows fine. But by what you said, you just reinstalled everything again. At least that is what I'm getting out of "I had to completely rebuild my system".
