sigh clearly, people are failing to read what im writing. or im failing to communicate. so let me try again. i launch the game i pick "single player" from the menu. i click "tournament" i click "new" i pick a demigod. i click "normal" i see a scoreboard. i click "continue" i get the loading screen, with the animated... whatever that thing is supposed to be that looks like a tramp stamp. i sit and look at that for

no dude, the game loads fine. the *single player* game wont load. or are you telling me it has to connect to the interent to START a single player game? because if thats the case, im just asking for a refund right now.
i cant even get single player to start. it just sits on the loading screen forever. like, 20 minutes. i finally just alt-f4'ed out of it. it wasnt locked up or anything, it even asked me if i was sure i wanted to quit... not like it matters, as the SP game looks to be... well, pretty worthless. if id known SP would be nothing more than a bunch of skirmishes, id have passed on the game entirely. oh and defragging isnt the issue, i defragged after the latest update...
As a token of our appreciation, our intention is to come in the Monday after Easter and make the final version available to the beta group a little bit early.
id rather have the $5 i overpayed back.

We are currently working out how to best compensate those who preordered at $45, and should have an announcement on the matter as soon as we have a plan finalized.
so did i miss this announcement, or is stardock just pocketing my $5 again?
i really REALLY wish online retailers would RELEASE the auth on a card after doing it. this isnt a stardock problem, it happens across the board, and theres really no excuse for it. pretty much all the online CC processors ive worked with support auth reversals...

hmm. i suppose i can see some of that... but... ugh this is why i hate multiplayer games. those kinds of things shouldnt ever even be an issue. sigh... people suck.
surrender? who surrenders? even if you know youre going to lose, at least have the dignity to lose WELL... hell, pretty much every game i play online i lose at 90% of the time, but by god, i fight and claw and struggle to the bitter end. and sometimes, i manage to scratch out a win from what seemed like sure defeat. surrender? bah! whats the point of playing then? do you only want to play when your victory is clear?
i have both galcivs and sins, as well as supreme commander (and the older TA games) and ive never played a one of them online. why? because i only play games online with people i know, and most of my friends arent gamers (and the few that are only play one game: WoW)... online play with random strangers sucks. if i wanted to put up with a bunch of little punks in my spare time, id have had kids of my own.
thats disappointing. i could have sworn i read somewhere that the SP game would have stuff like a persistent levelling hero and items and such. im also really disappointed we havent had the opportunity to test the SP game, considering i dont expect to play online much (or ever)...
IIRC shipping went up when we first got the details from the production samples, but it later went back down some when those early details proved to be on the high side. Early download preorders were $40; the $45 price wasn't set until the last beta or thereabouts. Sidetracking aside, as I said, contact sales with your concerns. I'll confirm Monday morning which price is correct.
youre mista
When we've made prerelease cost corrections in the past (there were a couple with Sins, IIRC), as far as I remember the change was resolved in favor of anyone who had ordered prior to the change. If the cost went down, previous preorders were credited the difference; if the cost went up, they kept the original lower price that they ordered at.
i can tell you i absolutely positively DID NOT get my $5 back on sins. 1) its only a bonus if i actually wanted those things, which i dont and 2) even IF i wanted those things, its the principle of the thing. i paid $45. then they lower the price to $40. and keep my $5. TWICE. how is this not dishonest? how is this NOT a screwjob? if they said "pre-order with beta access is $45. DD will be $40. the extra $5 is for beta access." then id be ok with it. i also probably wouldnt pre-order it, access to the beta isnt worth $5 to me. id even be ok with it if th
Actually, the non-preorder price is $49.99 so you got $5 off. It's $39.99 in stores, but SD is small and doesn't want to piss off retailers so they can't undercut, so instead they make a CE that's (usually) exclusive to direct orders. For both Sins and Demigod, the original preorder price was $5 cheaper than the final direct order price.
so what youre telling me is, to buy demigod through stardock for digital download only on rele
all things i both dont know about or how to get, and honestly dont much care about. id rather have the five bucks in my pocket. but either way, it settles in my mind any question i had about pre-ordering elemental or any other stardock product in the future.
what if we dont want the box? do we get the extra $5 (i paid $45, vs $40 for everyone else) back? im guessing not. i didnt get it back for sins either. which i guess would put me on the "shame on me" side of the "screw me once, shame on you..." equation :(
its difficult to test all the features if you dont even know what the features are. for example, it wasnt until just a few days ago that i even realized you could buy upgrades at the citidel, and i only discovered that by accident because i misclicked on it... which is what brought me to the forums, wondering what else i might be missing out on... having just some basic information, a mini-manual, with this info gathered in one place (and updated as needed) would have been a huge boon
yeah, i preordered a long time ago... so far i like it, but im anxious to see the single player portion... thats the make-or-break part for me, im not much of an online player, athough i do intend to try playing DG online... at least until i get frustrated with sucking so terribly :)
I think it'll be neither game of the year or disaster. More like sleeper hit of the year. kinda like sins
that, sir, is a "shade of grey" and is absolutely, positively not allowed on gaming forums. its black and white only. please turn in your internet license. :)
i dont care what they do with the camera between the time i die and the time i respawn... it can spin in crazy circles for all i care, as long as when i respawn its at the same orientation it was when i died... changing a user-set camera orientation is, in my opinion, one of the worst examples of what i think of as "rude" UI design. every time it happens i want to reach into my CPU and just slap the code silly. its like, "did i tell you you could touch that? do you NEED to touch that, for som

im pretty ok with the game as it stands now, theres nothing that makes me go "what the heck? who thought X was a good idea?" except for one thing: the way the game resets the orientation of the map whenever i die. this is incredibly annoying. it makes me grind my teeth in irritation every time it happens. i set the orientation a certain way for a reason. leave it alone. or at least make it an option in the settings. please. its making me nuts... on the up-side, its made me suck less,
so what about those of us that didnt preorder the box, and dont WANT the box? sigh this is looking like sins all over again, where my five bucks are just forfeit.
didnt. didnt get jack. grr... still pretty sore about it.
