I've hit a problem I haven't seen on the forum... I seem to have a limit of only 5 save game slots. I have the 2 auto save slots, plus 3 others that I've names '1', '2', and '3'. If I try to save another game called '4', it doesn't complain, but the next time I go to load, '4' is not there. Is this a bug or is it a known restriction? Thanks, jaycsco

Great thread, gang.... lot's of good ideas. Now I better understand why I'm constantly underfunded.... I don't need all those social projects on each planet. I also haven't used the governors yet. I'll be trying them tonight. Again, thanks for the insightful discussion... jaycsco
Great... over 8 hours of play for nothing... enough to make you want to give up the game. :(
Is there anyway to edit a file in the save folder and un-invert them? jaycsco
Asharak... what worries me is the 'off' it shows for research victory on the main menu page. I know for a fact that I didn't turn it off when I started the game. If this is a bug, I'm gonna scream! jaycsco
I have a game set to allow only research victory. After about 8 hours of play, I was able to complete the Final Frontier requirements. My controls and such turned white, but then nothing else happened. I played an additional 20 turns with nothing going on but researching old techs that I had passed up before. If I go into the main menu, toward the bottom it say that the research and cultural victory is 'off', military victory is at 30% and alliance victory is at 0%. I have no idea
Ah... thanks kindly. I should have seen it myself... Jay ~SDC~
Just saw this update on SDC... anyone heard what's new? Jay
I just downloaded the latest patch off of SDC and seem to be getting "No Resources" on over half the planets. They have basically stopped building ships. I checked my economics stuff, and am generating positive bc, so I don't know what resource it's complaining about. Any clues? Jay
Since I don't have a wheel, you could be right. What I'd like to see is a mouse slider. Jay
Amazingly, those 2 things are the 2 most irritating to me as well. The list that really needs mouse support is the list of research possibilities in the 'Research' screen. Both the 'Available' and 'Archive' lists tend to get long later in the game. Clicking 50 times on those little arrows is a drag. And I also am constantly exiting the negotiation screen to go into the research screen to see what type of tech the other race is trying to sell me. Jay
Just curious as to what it means? Jay
I found the manual, but the only thing I see in it is also in the printed version... the basic walkthru. I was talking about the html quickstart guide that the installation puts in Program Files/Strategy First/Galactic Civilization. I believe it's called something like qs_guide... Jay ~SDC~
Is this located anywhere on the galciv website? I'd prefer to be able to look at it on my laptop while playing the game on my desktop. It's inconvient to have to alt-tab the game to be able to read the guide. Other than that, great game LOL ~SDC~
