I'm really looking forward to SC, it will be THE space sim.
Until now I've only played on Immense maps with standard settings with no problems; I guess that if it gets really crowded I'll need to extend the 2GB limit. Thanks for the link Gaunathor, useful little tool there. On a side note, is the immense 22x22 the maximum GalCiv2 can have? Or some mod allows for even bigger maps? Edit: it seems "Immense" is as big as it gets, still not sure about some mod though.
Is that "Memory Address" a game option? I can't find it anywhere. The game seems to run smoothly as it is, so I didn't change any setting.
I ran it from the start in Win7 64 bit without any problem. Only thing is when I iconize it wi th the windows key, it doesn't always resume properly to full screen and have to relaunch it.
Nice, thanks for the link. One of the things I liked best in SMAC was that it didn't have the usual standard terraforming, but you could actually modify terrain parameters like height or moisture and get better tile's bonuses. I don't find the cloud thing so annoying in the clip, maybe in actual gameplay, but it seems necessary to show the increase in pollution. I wonder how it will cope with multiplayer.
Ok tought so, thanks!
Yes, it's a version thing. Now I have the Race Spying option.
Hello all, I would like to properly understand what game I have and which one I'm playing, reading some of the relevant threads only confused me further. [e digicons][/e] I have bought a GalCiv2 Ultimate Edition DVD from Kalypso, which I understand to be the european retail as opposed to the US one. I have updated it a first time through Stardock Central to 1.something (it would be nice if it would show the ver.#
I'm having the "corrupted file" cannot install thing through Stardock Central for patch Ultimate 2.04 with Firefox. It worked fine for the first patch 1.something. Hope it works this second time (almost 2 GB at 180KB/s in my part of the woods) if not I'll try with IE. Don't want to beat a dead horse (yes, I've read the relevant threads) but standalone patches would be so much more practical in my opinion. Edit: can't be through FF
Wow, that's what I'd call an extensive answer, thanks Gaunathor ! You've been most helpful. Some of the things you explain I've just came across in an immense-galaxy game I'm playing right now (didn't try the campaigns yet). My Galciv II copy is an Ultimate Edition. I'm mentioning this because I cant find the "sel
Hello all, new to the game, first post: I'm still confused about the spying business, even after having browsed almost all relevant threads. I'm posting in this as it's the most recent one. So you can allocate funds to espionage, get some agents and use them on other civs improvements or nullify theirs. Idle agents don't do anything but don't cost anything either (not sure about "passive" and "active" usage either). You can get some p
