I fully agree XavierMace above on every point he makes, your system is a 2core duo, so your running DDR2 ram with a limit of 8gb and while you can get quad cores for a socket 775 (I believe) motherboard they've been out of production for 3+ years now and much like getting DDR2 ram its going to cost you more than any higher spec upgrades that are still in production, 4gb of DDR2 ram costs more than double that of 4gb of DD3 currently, while a quad core processor for such a system will cost

So I was playing a medium map and due to having a high concentration of species present I started next to the Insect who immediately settled a crap lvl 4-6 planet right next to my home world. Obviously not willing to stand for this I developed my home world and initial colonies with a greater lean towards influence than I normally would but I'm only talking about 3 buildings per world with bonuses boasted by a culture star base. So I was playing for a few hours and I had (not a huge numbe

I have to say I've been watching the streams every week since Autumn and the progress that's been made it that time to the visual aspects is fantastic, those early game play streams look very much like your playing a different game entirely and while I know there's a lot that needs to be done still its been very interesting watching this game really come to life! Big thumbs Up from me! Thanks Crimsonsun

This has been discussed in several places already so I will be brief and say that I fully agree with your ideas at least in concept and I love the idea of Bomber/Fighter Wings, though I'd want an additional class of Assault craft that perform boarding actions on capital ships they land on though that might be rather too complex for how the mechanics work. The most important aspect needed to balance fleet warfare is the hull sizes that should have a hit point and defensive multiplier based

Its as simple a question as that, now I've wouldn't know where to begin in terms of modding but I wondered if anyone was working on creating the B5 universe within GalCiv. My thoughts were that it shouldn't be too hard with both the combination of the lesser race editors and the fact the Galciv universe seems to have been inspired in areas by B5.. Personally I love that setting and would be so excited to play/playtest a B5 conversion for the game! Thanks cri
Hmm... I've played GalCiv 2 so much that I already know what the logistics numbers for ship sizes are. I hadn't considered that it might not be known by someone else. The only problem that I got with them is that they call the hull sizes by different names, so a large ship is capital (it is the only one that I know at the time). Anyways, the logistics values: Tiny - 2 Small - 3 Medium - 5 Large - 7<b

I posted elsewhere I've been having a bug with the combat viewer where the last target is not always destroyed (explosion/graphics) leaving the remaining fleet to just fly around it until you click end combat, normally with a few rogue missiles flying around the screen. I've had this against both ships and Star Bases, can add logs if helpful?
Most terraforming techs are for increasing the PQ of your worlds. However, beta 4 has introduced some techs along the terraforming path for improving your ability to colonize extreme worlds. I've only played as the Yor for beta 4, so I don't actually it is true for other civs.
Yeah we can colonise extreme worlds and eventually even toxic ones. Thanks for your help, I figured out logistics kinda though

So I'm closing in on the 200 turns mark and I'm looking at building towards War simply because I want to play with the combat viewer, now I'm 15 turns or so away from Large Hulls which I feel will be important before I begin warfare though I'm not sure whether or not to build any more medium/small hulled craft as I have around 10 or so of each mark 3 or 4 paladins or rangers etc. Planet wise I have 3 developed colonies and a underdevelopment Oceanic world that I've just be

Out of interest I thought Id add that doing this myself using a non integrated gpu build has removed the freezes when scrolling around the map though they remain when zooming to high detail (I'm going to turn down some more texture details and see what happens).

While I am sure some kind of limitation should be imposed on these carriers from the sounds of it (most logically by imposing some kind of financial cost to replacing lost fighters which can only be done within your zone of control) and I freely admit I have no knowledge of how combat actually works but it sounds like a combination of capital ships not being able to split fire between targets along with weapons not being balanced against defences properly as the fighters seem to be doing way

Some further feedback after playing some more, first up is that thanks your advice has put me on the right path and while I do not know exactly what I'm up to I'm no longer feeling like I've been dumped in the Atlantic in a row boat, but a few observations that could do with more explanation so newbies like myself don't get lost. First up, the number of habitable worlds on the average settings is pitiful, on my current game I must have explored 30-40 stars and I've

Motherboard upgrade possibilities are limited to the socket type of your processor and if your running on a DDR2 system you might not find that many options in terms of upgrading beyond what is currently supported. I was running a 2 core duo with 8gb ram but wanted to upgrade to a 4 core or higher system simply because games are starting to demand more from CPU's currently especially in the 4x genre. Sadly the expense of a socket 775 4 core processor (where you could find one) was obscene

loving the look and concept of the battles, my only negative comment was perhaps they were too short, its not as much of an issue when those Titans were letting rip on the cutters but in he fights between smaller ships and thus bigger ones I would have expected multiple volleys being unleashed in order to destroy the target. Maybe this would get dull but to me things seemed a little brief. Linked with that is that shields did not seem to do anything beyond being added to the ships Armour, I&#

Thanks guys for those responses which must have taken you a fair while to compile (I know it took me a while to read it all properly), I will head your advice and see where that takes me and no doubt return with another bucket load of questions. I feel I will need to really mess around with the user interface to get a solid understanding of how I'm supposed to achieve various tasks or so as to avoid the inevitable miss clicking issues that crop up. I will do as you instruct though

Sorry for the Thread Necromancy but I thought rather than starting a new thread I would hijack this one. I am also a total Galciv Newbie though I've been playing Strategy games since the likes of populous and maglomania and my game catalogue has had only Strategy and RPG's in it in the 25ish years since. Even so I have found myself somewhat at a loss for how to proceed with GalCiv3 thus far, as I have no ideas upon the value of things such as currency/research/colony policies/
Oh man, sorry. That was a typo. It is not coming today.
I was pretty sure it was a typo any one as the sentence totally contradicted itself pre-edit, either that or you were using some Stardock slang communication that went completely over my head but that couldn't happen because... A comment to the above, number 12 - Green Stars would be invisible to players with Colour blindness (, or at best be a dulled out grey I believe. (I am not colour blind myself but my father is so I am fairly vague in my knowledge) but Trichromatic colour blindness is farily common (being present in 1% of Males) and should be paid attention to by developers. I am not sure if this is the reason for the lack of green but it would make sense. As for number 6 - I love the concept of

In the Steam discussions Paragon Exile mentions friday (today) as being the day for the update and new features beta. I am not sure if he is anything to do with Stardock or if it's just someone stating guesses as facts so I cannot be sure to how creditable this information is...

When launching an invasion is the combat based purely on the defences in the planets hex or a larger region of space? I would love to see whole solar systems involved in the defence of a region of space, so you could plan defences accordingly when defending or have a far more intelligent offensive strategy such as destroying some orbital platforms (Do orbital platforms exist?) or asteroid mining facilities before retreating outside the system to attempt to draw out a defending fleet or to ham

I got Endless Legend about a month ago and while I feel it has some great idea's it's just not captivating me in the same way a Iconic strategy game does, I also find the combat frustrating as your ability to issue commands/instructions is way too limited leaving the game to do plainly stupid things. I also found the game felt really slow, its difficult to explain exactly what was different (I've played tons of games in the genre) but the pacing just felt off to me. The more I thi
