The worsening intermittent reboot is usually caused by fluff or dust in the system somewhere and completely cleaning everything - including the back of the motherboard - usually fixes it. I have a friend who keeps one of her pc's in a very dusty place despite my protestations. Every six months when it starts to reboot by itself she gives it to me to "defluff." A couple of weeks after the last time though, the bearing in the graphics card fan had finally had enough (d

And above all - be prepared to use Search. It has not been uncommon for me to do a hundred or more searches a day when I've been trying to learn to do new things. btw... In a normal web page a select is a form element and the select value will be sent to the server when the form is submitted - when the submit/send button is clicked.
That's right - make your own !! If you are trying to make gadgets, this is where the "Hello World" gadget becomes very handy. You can make the simplest example possible and experiment with it. For example here is a fairly average example that changes the content above the select depending on the option that is selected (and please note that this is an Sidebar/Internet Explorer specific example) [code="html"] <meta http
What you have above is just an HTML element or object - a way of adding a drop down list to the page. There are no commands. But a select object can be manipulated through script via it's properties, methods and events. You can change or read it's displayed value for example with the value property. The "Gadget Newbie thread" mentioned above c
It is fun but if you have never made a gadget before, please consider following the advice in this thread Gadget Newbie and start by making a "Hello World" gadget. The thread also contains a few other useful links but please note that these do not cover the properties and methods of the <a title="IXMLDOMDocumen
Well, it's about as basic as I know how to make it - and apart from the gadget.xml file (which is fairly generic) it is a complete working gadget. Still if anyone can provide that OP with an easier or less complicated working solution it would make me very happy. Him too, I suppose.
You can look at an example of how to download and parse an xml file with jscript here : http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sidebargadfetdevelopment/thread/5c313c0e-0a3e-4cf6-9e4e-e0d701a834d6
Oh, btw, I would like to change the Windowblinds UI...perhaps you could be of assistance in decompiling the exe for me and sending me the source...
It seems he has gone to some trouble to prevent exactly what you are trying to do (but I could be wrong and you could try emailing him). If you cannot find what you are looking for then modifying this gadget's scripts may involve a steep learning curve. I would encourage you to make your own gadget. Use search to find examples from which to learn. But if you really must look at his scripts then you will have to use something like the Web Developer extension in Fire
Thanks for fixing it.
Vista32: - some Microsoft programs - flip3d, synctoy - don't remember their chosen icon. Clearing the 'Point to target not link' checkbox fixes this. - icon list for added folder in 'Change Icon' is no longer ordered alphabetically and must be manually selected each time (by clicking on the 'name' header) - changing icon a few times produced crash
I use Startup Delayer to set a 20 sec delay for ObjectDock to overcome this and which works 99% of the time. Possibly setting a longer delay would make it work 100% of the time but the CIA (!) have released a reboot ObjectDock docklet (the one with the black icon) which also comes in handy for the other 1%.
Also, I would be pleased if you tried my gadget which has just been accepted: http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=2ab0d377-2b17-4b3f-96ac-95eb18104371&bt=1&pl=1 I would submit it here, but I am a very poor graphic artist and it looks very plain in comparison to the others here. Still, I quite like it. As mentioned, clicking on t
Glad to help, Goo. Also I'm pretty happy our collective blood pressure has dropped a few notches. If someone has this sort of problem with XP, the way to open the System Configuration Utility mentioned in 2. above is of course Start->Run->type in 'msconfig' (without the quotes). Btw, for me it was Windows Standard not Windows Classic that was being applied. And I was a bit premature getting excited about my logo
Ok, fixed it. Hey Goo, try this: 1. Do what you have to do to apply a skin. 2. Open System Configuration in Administrative Tools. 3. Select the Services tab. 4. Tick the box that says 'Hide all Microsoft services.' 5. Untick all remaining services except Stardock Windowblinds 6. Reboot. If the skin has not been applied, you have some other problem. If it has - proceed. 7. One by one tick the remaining services, rebooting each time until

Hi, Gadget is a wired network meter and can be downloaded from Link Features : - displays any combination of upload, download, lan Ip, wan Ip. Resizes automatically. - except for background, no images used in gadget itself (but used in Settings) - gadget is a page switcher - click on the title and gadge
Cursor disappears when using Flip 3D.
This is what I had to do: 1. Right click objectdock.exe, choose compatibility tab then check 'run as administrator.' This stops systats from crashing the dock. 2. For some some reason default.png was showing under the docklets so I renamed it 'default.bak.' When the systats docklet is created now, it's invisible but I can still right click on it and load the config. 3. Vista then wouldn't run objectdock as a startup program so I disabled the startup entry and created a task in task s
Try 'run as admin' for Objectdock.exe and the dock won't crash. For some reason though, default.png still shows underneath the docklet. Goes away if you rename it default.bak. Then Vista won't run OD as a startup program anymore so disable the entry in the startup folder and create a task using task scheduler to run OD at logon with the highest priveleges. Any better ideas please let me know.
Same problem. Tried everything, nothing working until I tried this : open Services, double click the Stardock Windowblinds service, select the logon tab and check the 'allow this service to interact with the desktop' box. Since then, not one bsod. Uncheck the box and back to bsod's. Go figure.

You probably already know this but disabling Vista's shortcut overlay in IconPackager causes the Favorite Links in Explorer to appear empty even though the links are still in the links folder, as mentioned here : http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/159/1/
