I had this problem a year ago when i was using windows ME but it wasn't only downloads through Stardock Central but all downloads but i found that the problem was because i had a lotf spyware and that my firewall was ignoring them so i recommend that you check your computer for spyware using adaware 4 example

you can also do animations in windows movie maker you can save your animation in GIF

you can change the icon in xp by right click properties and then choose an icon but using a program is alot faster

in all programs you will lose qualitty when saving in GIF but if you use photoshop or paintshop you will lose less color than in paint.
