Well, I've only played 2 maps so far but I certainly like Mountain Pass more than Tarth. Tarth is, of course very resource poor. I'm sure this is intentional and there is nothing wrong with having harder maps. At the same time, however, a map that has so few resources that you feel like it's hard to even get up and running isn't necessarily the most fun. I mean it COULD be, if one is already super good at the game and all. I hope that the random map generator w

I don't mind the way it's done in this game but I will say that I think that Age of Wonders 3 handles hero leveling in a very interesting way that doesn't feel linear (though it probably is) and gives the player a wide variety of choices that can cover whatever situation you find yourself in during that particular game.

You know what? I would be very interested in a 4X game where my "armies" were more like DnD-style parties of Heroes/Adventurers/Whatever as opposed to masses faceless, nameless troops. I realize that a grand empire ought to have grand armies but in Sorcerer King we are basically playing a minor faction that has gotten too big for its britches, right? What if Sir Kael and Bailey actually had some, you know, real hit points? What if they had a level up tree like Tandis? What if there we

I will write a review on Steam just as soon as I can. It will be positive as I am really enjoying the game. In the meantime, here is a link to my somewhat inept Let's Play on the 'ol Youtubes: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLu_Uxi6l_RLNIogusjBVuJSD0Df_6qBtg It is 5 episodes long (and growing) but it could use some more views! ;)

[quote who="pendr4gon" reply="8" id="3498411"] I am also excited about the DM for the quest system. On the steam forum I suggested the game made use of a karma system of some kind, but I am glad you had already big plans for the quests to not be too repetitive. I also hope the consequences of the choices will be randomized, as well as the rewards. (Like sometimes the bandits looting a town will surrender the items and flee, other times they will fight you even if you tried to pick

First, let me say that I really like the game so far overall. I really like the art style and the music is great. I think the game is simple in its mechanics (that's a GOOD thing) but still has depth. I also really like the crafting system. I will admit that I was kind of worried that the crafting system was going to feel like busy work but I think it works very well and I already enjoy finding crafting materials to see what I can make next - great mechanic. I also think t

I'm playing the Tarth map and have only really been able to find one additional city building location - and I have explored a decent amount of the map. Just how rare are they supposed to be exactly? Do I need to kick some neutrals off viable land for them to show up? Am I missing something?

Here's something I would like to see in the tactical battles. Often in these sorts of games, a unit can move X number of spaces and then shoot or attack. Usually, once the attack happens that unit's turn has ended for the round - even if they have movement points remaining. And that's probably how it should work for most units. BUT! Skirmishing-type units are often poorly represented in tactical battle systems for just that reason. So what if there were some few un

Oh wow, October 2? I feel like a bit of a piler-on. I had no idea the game was so close to early access when I joined the founders yesterday. I do like the idea of deviating from the tree system of leveling up heroes. I always enjoyed the old fashioned, semi-random method of leveling in Heroes of Might and Magic and Age of Wonders Shadow Magic. As for modern systems, I really like the Age of Wonders 3 system for heroes. It gives the player a lot of choice in how to respond to wh

Well, despite not being a huge fan of Legendary Heroes, I have just become a founder for E2015. Let me tell you why: 1. Stardock does good work and stands by its products and, more importantly, it's customers. 2. While I think LH was flawed, the foundation was there. While not my favorite fantasy 4x game, LH is still one of the best ever made. 3. I think the developers have learned a lot from making LH and I am excited to see

Hmmm thanks guys. I can already see some things I was doing wrong. Apparently not expanding fast enough for one thing. I also usually take the Mage path with my sovereign with a race that is evidently not well suited for it (Defender or commander might be better?). I am building too many buildings and not enough units. Thinking about it more I don't think I'm getting overwhelmed in terms of unit quality. Yithril is just sending more cheap units at me than I can defend ag

Unfortunately I seem to be getting overwhelmed in terms of both quality and quality. I am not spamming pioneers. Should I be? I tend to be a builder and defensive type player in 4x games which is why the Ironeers appealed to me. Are there any race-specific tips/oddities I might be missing? I'm really enjoying the game but I can't remember having so much trouble with a particular faction in other similar games in the past.

I am no stranger to the TBS 4X genre. In fact, it's one of my favorite genres. I have been playing games as the Gilden default race. The Yithril are kicking my butt left, right and center whenever they are on the map. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, they always have far more troops than I could ever hope to support, pretty early in the game too. What's the strategy against them? Just wipe them out as soon as you find them? I'm only playing on normal/medium
