I'm disappointed with Stardock it seems like we got shafted because Stardock wanted to release PM2008. It's been 7 weeks since launch and we're now just getting the first bug fix patch. If we had the bug fix patch (even if it just cleared some of the obvious holes/problems with the tech tree) a week afterwards I would have waited 2-3 months to see what came in the major patch as I know it'll be great and will add alot to the game. Stardock built it's reputation on great after l

The pirates event is completely broken , it shouldn't be in the game the AI cannot compete at all. In fact with all the mega events you would need to take action in the AI is completely overwhelmed and with surrenders on , will capitulate completely. I'm very disappointed Stardock haven't either added the option to disable certain events or spent more time with the AI so that they can cope. If they didn't cripple the AI they would perform what they were intended to. I
I've had time to play a few games and I do have some feedback. The new victory condition feels a bit weird , basically it just keeps you at war with whoever is close to achieving it before the turn counter goes. You can win with only one crystal captured (it make take 1000 turns though) I thought the idea was if that if you controlled all 6 then the timer would count down. The AI seems to be better at managing its planets but on one game I did find the Drengin filling entire pl
I don't tend to use any fighters in a fleet , they just don't seem to be worth anything when you can pack a fleet with a few flaks and they'll accomplish the job. Bombers however can be very useful , even more so if the AI actually built worthwhile stationary defences around it's worlds. They're also useful when it comes to mopping up a retreating AI cap ship. If the devs can clear up the Al's willingness to fight and its build decisions things should sort themselves out (
That would be awesome , only problem is that they won't loop cleanly. Would be nice if they faded into and out of a sins of a solar empire logo.
You could see if you could get fan sites for other popular games to review your games. I liked the way Civfanatics follow GalCivII and that kept me interested. Or failing that get a moderator on the starforce support boards to post a link to where people can obtain a pirated copy of the game , seemed to work well last time :p
I would love to see this , recreating the battle of the line would blow me out of the water. The diplomacy would cause problems though , unless you made it so that only the shadows and vorlons would dictate missions and you would respond to either to pick your side.
It's 2.30 am here as I'm writing this , I have work in 4 hours and have just left a game to come and see if there were any strat threads here I could read to pick up some tips (I'm stuck in stalemate) I feel your pain
I found these issues dissapeared for me when I upgraded to the latest nVidia driver (171.16 beta). I'm using windows Vista X64 Intel Core2 E6750 nVidia Geforce 7900GTO 2GB ram. I hope this helps everyone else , the drivers can be found at guru3d.com
It sounds like you have a scenario set up in the game creation screen. You can only play the scenarios as terran.
The letzlandians often colonize other planets in thier system on my game. Makes sense to me Maybe they shouldnt be going after planets in other systems though.
These are some of my favourites in here. -Corruption Allegations- Your political opponents have brought corruption charges against you in the United Planets High Court. Unfortunately they have succeeded and you have been forced to hold an election, in which you lost. With the ruthless tyranny of the [WAR PARTY/ISOLATIONISTS] now in power, they have declared an Imperial Government be made. (Government change to Imperial. Normal election loss factors occur) - recurri
that sounds like artifacting from an overheated graphics card to me.
Actually just went and had a look at the 1.6 beta changelog. And the changes in there are more than I expected. Theres more to "sell" to us there than the performance gains.
No its not a feature. How many people are going to benfit from better performance on a game that already ran well on 3 year old computers? I was looking forward to some new features , I guess its just dissapointment really. I have come to expect so much from you guys I guess its just testament to the great job you're doing here.
it failed
To be honest the only consistant feature of my games is that the Drath Legion always fall first
I dont have a problem with the pirate mega event , what I do have a problem with is the AI's inability to deal with it. Pirate mega event = Win for player basically at the moment
I had to scrap a game due to that and it came just after I spent 1 and a half years trying to destroy the pirates.
I used paypal , recived my key via email and downloaded it and within 50 mins I was playing
Spy's need to be nerfed somewhat , I don't think the AI is clever enougth to use them to the extent we do. And having them use them to the extent we do would'nt be fun. I do like the Idea of a chance your spy can fail , along with a espionage tech tree that increases the chance of a successfull operation.
That worked , cheers Though the planet lights do look more like snow caps
Im using a Geforce 6800 (a sm3.0 capable card) with the 91.45 drivers and I too dont have any light's or indeed a darker side to a planet. Could this be related to running the game in windowed mode?
