I am a heavy and enthusiastic user of ObjectBar. I particular I use it to simulate the old Control Center. I have noticed of late that after a boot one of my widgets has been reset. I have hard drive meters for all of my partitions, C:, D:, E:, F:, G:, H: and Q:. After a boot OB displays C:, D:; E:, C:, G:, H: and Q: and I can see no difference in the definition of these widgets that should make the drive meter for F: any different from the others. It's always the F: meter that is reset

Strangeness after latest DesktopX update in ObjectBar Stardock Forums

I let Stardock Central install the latest update to DesktopX, and now ObjectBar is screwed up. I have a bar, replacing Control Center, with Virtual Desktops, some drive indicators, an analog clock (Vista) and data & time in text. Take a look in Troubleshooting Options on the General tab. Under System Tray & Taskbar you can temporarily disable OD's system tray ability. In my opinion, this is badly described. Why the word 'temporarily' is there I don't know - it's permanent until unchecked. And it doesn't really say what it means. The real problem here is that if OD has hidden the system tray, and then goes walkabout, it is impossible to 'temporarily' disable the system tray hiding.

OB grinds almost to a halt after a couple of weeks in ObjectBar Stardock Forums

I have a problem, which MAY be related to contention between OB and ObjectDock Plus. Today my system became very sluggish, sometimes taking a minute or more to switch between two virtual desktops. Every so often - about once a week - ObjectDock appears to go into a coma. My vertical Dock doesn't show up at all, and my horizontal tabbed dock is just a bunch of inactive tabs. This is extremely frustrating when I have asked to hide the task bar, and can't get back to ObjectDock to unhide it! The only solution appears to be to start ObjectDock from its folder. When I do that everything springs suddenly back to life.

Thanks Zubaz, I've sent a request to support, although I'm not about to hold my breath. BTW, for a couple of years I had an odd problem with CC. Every fifth boot or so it tried to start a second CC, which crashed. I never did find out why. Now, at every boot, CC starts, but I can't stop it since it isn't in my system tray anymore. I have to use Task Manager to end the process.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, with Type 1, I get a harddrive meter either with no text or with "Drive X: 7.56 GB free" and THEN the slider, which is too wide to show a significant slider. The old CC gave "X: 7.56" and a colour-coded slider. I have seven partitions, so identification is a Good Thing.

I've just succeeded in replacing ControlCenter by a vertical objectbar, thanks to a very good tutorial (Creating an ObjectBar). However, I'm not completely satisfied - I never am, of course - and would like to hear if anyone can point me in the right direction. I have also noticed a similar problem with Virtual Desktops. I run Webshots Desktop, which changes my wallpaper at regular intervals, but VD doesn't pick up on the updates.
