The the cable modem was given by the ISP when they installed our roadrunner service...Its a Thoshiba PCX 2500. Right, the 1st one thats plugged in is the one that connects. Unfortunately, there is only one Ethernet port at the back of the modem. Ive got a (software) firewall up and running at all times. Right, same workgroup (MSHOME)...Ive tried this, but it doesnt work. (Most likely due to the network being only semi-functional)... Well, thanks for y

Ok, Ive recently gotten a new desktop 'puter (IBM 2.2ghz celeron 256mb ram...Its a temporary comp from one of those online schools) and have been trying to set it up on a (wired) network with my laptop. Laptop is running XP home and desktop is XP pro. Both have 1 ethernet port. I have our cable modem (it provides an always on connection) hooked up to an ethernet router and when I try to plug in the other comps (To the router), one of them will be able to connect to the internet, while the other
