I think there maybe something to installing SDC first. I did not do so (I did not know it existed before buying and playing the game..I thought it was a holdover for OS/2 days!)...I hope this is not the case or it can be fixed because the retail CD does not have big red letters on it saying install CDC first or you will not be able to update! ;) Though than again..some who have also seem to have some troubles... ap

LordTheRon, Did it work? Is the version updated and everything OK? Bonus pack still tyhere and Multimedia etc.? ap
Hi Mike, I would say do not download the entire game at this time (the 85MB) download. I believe they are working to resolve this problem. The actual patch should be around 1MB or so. Downloading the full 85MB has the potential to trash the Bonus pack and Multimedia parts of GalCiv and leave things in an unknown state. There are conflicting reports as to what happens. ap
Yes agreed. I am not sure SDC actually works correctly. I hope they figure out why. For some it works..for others it does not..for some it trashes the game...ouch.. ap
It is asking for the full 80 Megs. ap
Hi Bard, To help you out: I installed the Retail version. Then installed SDC. I am not sure when I installed the bonus pack, it may have been before SDC but I cannot be sure. I installed the bonus pack from the link on the web site (not SDC). Hope this helps. ap
How do I know if I am using download and archive? I am hitting the 'Update' button next to the 1.01a listing. Is it s switch somewhere in the options or something?
Hopefully the SDC issues will be fixed today. I don't really wish to uninstall,re-install, re-update, to be able to install a 1 MB patch. SDC may seem like a good idea, but in practice it has been far more trouble than it is worth. A simple link to download the patch would be fine...
Thanks Frogboy. I will wait and not download all those files. ap
What if you do see it, but it wats to download 85MB? Should we?
Is there a way to clear (so to speak) SDC so it doesn't try to resume the 85M download. I cancelled after hearing problems with MM not working anyore.
Great Game Frogboy! I've been waiting for this since OS/2 Days! Some suggestions (since you asked): Could selecting a ship from the list on right center and select the ship on the map? Seems like I have to double-click a ship, which then centers it, but also moves it, if there are any movement points left. Just a simple select and center would be great. Same for the planets list? Perhaps a list of all explored worlds, or maybe adding all explored worlds to the planet list then allo
From OS/2. Amazing game..been waiting for windows ver. ever since.
