thanks for the help guys. It is not any where on my harddrive. I reinstalled component manager, and desktopx, and neither of these replaced the dll. If this file is not included in windows then it must have originally come with desktopx. Can understand machine gremlins swiping it, but cant understand the reinsatll not replacing it. It would be nice to find the one supplied by stardock with the apps.

From micrsoft: The shared C Runtime (CRT) DLL has been distributed by Microsoft in the past as a shared system component. This may cause problems when you run applications that are linked to a different version of the CRT on computers that do not have the correct versions of the CRT DLL installed. This is commonly referred to as the "DLL Conflict" problem. To address this issue, the Msvcr70.dll is no longer considered a system file, therefore, distribute Msvcr70.dll with any a
Desktopzx was working fine.... ontill today. Now I am getting an error message that says it can not find this file. I tried uninstalling, reboot, reinstall, reboot, and get the same message. It says that reinstaling may fix this problem, but it does not. Is this file a ms file or a stardock file? The only other thing i have recently installed and then uninstalled was Kazaa. Any ideas?
ok, so it is possible to use both at the same time???? I was apprehensive about even trying this. It seemed to me from teetering on the back of the truck, that WB would be using the stylesxp hacked dll and did not want to find out what might happen then.
Forgot to mention. i do have object desktop. Right now i am just using WB, Desktopx, cursorxp, object dock. I made a spongebob user profile for my 8yr old with desktopX. Its like putting him in a playpen withh all his toys and not having to worry that he can get at the system or places on the net by accident. So im with stardock for that reason alone. Marketing idea guys. Kids dont ask the folks to
Thanks people. This is helping. Paxx, I think you hit on what I thought might be escaping me. (Iknow just enough to get my self in trouble with all this) With stylesxp you are messing with the operating system. Microsoft comes out with a new SP and your back to using the standard themes. Then you are back to hacking the system again. I can understand why MS would not want people messing with the code then running buggy themes on the OS. I can see having to boot into safemode an
i am a newbie to all this. I have been using WB for around a month now and love it. I have a xpmachine. A buddy of mine is using stylesxp and loves it. I have done some research on the 2 products and think I understand the differences, but suspect because i am new I am probably missing something. So i thought I would toss the question out to the more experienced peope to get some imput. Firts as I understand it: stylesxp simply unlocks the locks on the windows .dll that do not allow
On one of the reboots, there were many, I did see something refering to a .dll but do not recall what exactly it was. I even tried loading just a single toon object and that crashed desktopX. I have not had a problem loading any other objects, only the ones from toon. each one fo them crashes X.
I am very new to this and just purchased OD and ToonXP. I have the WinXP suite loading and it works perfectly. When I try to apply the Toon XP theme desktopX crashes. I have a win98 machine. Of the 2 downloadable files for ToonXp one self extrated and placed the files were they were supposed to go. The other was a zip file and I entracted these to the desktopX\objects folder. Is this correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
