This is where I become confused. If I have 100% spending and enough funds to pay for the 24 industry and the 24 research, why do I still not get them? What is connection between research and industry on a planet? What are the %s on the category sliders (military/social/research) a % of?

Excuse me, but what's up with that?! If I have 12 bc, why can't I have it produce 12 flasks without completly hampering my military and social production? Is this really how it works? I assumed if all sliders were set to the right (100% spending, military/social/research all rightmost) **and you had enough funds**, that you could get %100 of

If they introduced a "max colony" factor that accounted for tech/income/etc., it could be interesting... You mean like a "colony logistics" tech that limited how many colonies you could manage at one time? That's an interesting idea. I wonder if it would be moddable.

Yes. First, when does DS9 come on Spike, and how far into the show are they right now? I miss that show. I always thought it would be neat to have a tech line based on "Boarding Parties" that would use your soldiering (and race) bonuses. Of course, there would have to be a "Repelling Boarders" defensive tech line as well, or you could even rely on defensive techs already in the game. Such offensive techs could require their own attachment to a ship (to use up a weapon

I would like the ability to request Surrender. Maybe it could trigger whatever routine it is that the AI checks before it surrenders on its own. Sometimes when you are so much more powerful, it would be nice to be able to call an end to the game.

Thank you for answering. No, I just thought you meant you'd pirated it. Sorry about that. It seemed like a smarmy way of saying it. Honestly, I'd ignore the fanboys and play the game. Stardock dev posts have red banners. Plus there's a big response on the front page regarding updates. Did you play GC1?

Yes, I am constantly doing this too. I don't know where I developed the habit, probably from RTS, but I can't seem to break it. It would be great to be able to change these.

To me tactics are something to be saved for multiplayer. I've never played a tactical game where after a few tries you couldn't outsmart the AI. As far as strategy is concerned, I'm still playing chess against the computer and losing.

I had the exact same problem (full screen version, plays first video of colony ship construction then CTD). It was working fine until I applied the "49" version using the de-archive option in Stardock. The only way I could get it to work was to uninstall the game completely, then reinstall and use the 1.02 full version patch from the website. After that it worked fine. Go figure. ;p

Actually, they don’t rotate at all. Since I only had his fixed isometric portraits to work from, I just replicated the image 32x in the encoding strip and the ships never change direction when they move. In the last iteration I added a directional pointer so you could at least tell which direction a ship was facing (once I realized it was important to know where they were going). If his pictures were renders, there’s no reason you couldn’t extract 32 facings from the render and actua

I wonder if it would be effective to have a BLOCKADE button on the ship command list. Then, whenever a ship attempts to move through that sector, it could ask you whether or not you wanted to allow it, and answering NO could alter that empire's opinion of you. Still, I haven't played enough high-AI games to know whether this would even be necessary. Still, embargos would be neat.

I would assume Atrocities is hard at work on his mod, which is why we aren't hearing from him. ;) I wouldn't want to step on anybody's toes buy putting their hard work into a mod. I did get bored last night though and pulled a lot more stuff in. Still can't believe the difference a good artist makes. I have absolutely no artistic talent myself! ;p http://www.imgmag.net/images/xtclingerie/clip3.jpg

As much as I'd like to take credit (;)) it's not my model. All I did was encode it. The person that makes these models has done an incredible job of recreating just about every major race from Star Trek (and some others) for SE4 I believe. Here's a link to his site: http://galileo.spaceports.com/~william/index.html I can't imagine the time he's put into this. All I did was spend 10 minutes encoding one of his models.

Here is one of Atrocities models encoded into the game. I hope he doesn't mind me putting it up here, I'm not working on a Star Trek mod myself, just couldn't believe how good it looks. Can't wait to see what some of these guys mods look like! http://www.imgmag.net/images/xtclingerie/clip1.jpg http://www.imgmag.net/images/xtclingerie/clip2.jpg

Hey Atrocities, just put one of your Federation ships into the game and it looks great! I just wish I had the time to put them all in there. Still, didn't know what to do about the facing (since it's only an isometric render) but it still makes the game look incredible. Of course, I'd never use your stuff without your permission, and esp. since you're probably already doing it yourself. Just wanted to compliment you on the modelling again. I love the fact that GC is being regularly updated, even if I do have to archive it and take it home each night. ;) But are there change logs for any of the changes posted anywhere? Just to satisfy my own curiosity, of course. LOL ~SDC~
