Thought I remembered reading somewhere that late in the game, 50% morale isn't really to be considered a bad thing and that as mentioned, it's the level that things are going to head toward as growth continues. That means that at least half the people like you... And even 49% approval would probably get you elected in some countries... ;) ~SDC~

I'm definitely enjoying it and have no complaints other than wishing I was better at the game. But of course for me that's where the fun is: Just when you think you're starting to get down a strategy, the AI will force your hand/timetable and make you react to what they're doing. I've definitely never seen a 4X game where each game varies so much and the only real factor to that is the behavior of the AI. Pretty cool. Solops - Agreed that the more documentation the better, but for t
Think it's right-click on the destination actually... ~SDC~
Yeah, it's more obvious when you're colonizing a new system, but when you're putting a 2nd colony in, it's asking for the same thing as before (pick a planet) it's just not giving you the name the system prompt up front so it's not as intuitive. But as Kakupacal mentioned, if you put the cursor over the planets, you should still see it turn into a colony ship and you can select the other planet to colonize. ~SDC~
Still can't find the message, but it adds several new options on the game start screen (being able to turn off methods of victory and I think the different densities of star clusters might have been from the bonus pack), gives you exact percentages of how close you are to the various types of victories, added in the MP3 player, and might have added the late-game Excalibur class of starship, but not certain on that one. ~SDC~
I know Brad put up a FAQ on this forum linking to a full description of the pack, but I haven't found it yet... Still looking. ~SDC~
LOL! Always a sucker for a good Spinal Tap reference... :D ~SDC~
And it's even being discussed in a good way! ;) (Remembering that MOO3 also took over c.s.i.p.c.s for quite a while) ~SDC~
Is this something that's eventually going to auto-update or do we have to do it manually (think I have .99c 145 build2 at the moment)? I only ask since I also had SDC auto-update just fine last night but bowed to peer pressure (Brad......) to go ahead and install the new .99 and merryment ensued... Not saying that anything's going to go wrong now, but I'm pretty gunshy after the last 24 hours and am rapidly adopting the "if it ain't broke..." philosophy. ;) ~SDC~
Had similar feelings myself last night being at the head of the problems. Wound up with some nasty system instabilities due to a wacked-out swap file, so wound up reinstalling windows again onto my newer, faster drive. So at least XP's performing better than ever on the faster drive, but boy I definitely would like to have the last 24 hours back. But that said, if this had to happen, I'd much rather have had it happen yesterday to a few of us than to have Stardock's reputation ruine
Zachary - Funny thing. Hadn't realized that after reloading XP, I'd used the same SDC .99 install and... did it again. Neato, but thanks to your mentioning which 3 files to copy back over, I copied those back over and that did the trick. At least I didn't have to reinstall twice, but that's definite confirmation that just installing the original .99 SDC download was the prob. ~SDC~
Frogboy - Yeah, that would be a rather unfortunate glitch to go live with on release day. I can just see the press reports now... ~SDC~
Zachary - Doh! Forgot the ntdetect.com... I'd gone into console mode and copied over boot.ini and ntldr but still was getting no joy and went ahead and reinstalled. Silly me overlooking the obvious file. Oh well, system needed a reinstall anyway, right? ;) ~SDC~
Frogboy - And don't feel to bad about it. Stuff happens. Main thing that bummed me out (aside from reloading the OS) was how eager I'd been to play the game and hated having to wait to rebuild the OS! ;) ~SDC~
Confirmed that XP is a problem as well. Got me as well. I ran it from a /download directory and don't have any other filesystem customization beyond the default XP load. ~SDC~
Yup 150-160K here (dropping to 40K occasionally). Much better! ~SDC~
Going pretty slow over here. Had something go wacky on my system and am now back reinstalling and downloading again and am having pretty slow speeds (20-50KB) and it's occasionally pausing for a good amount of time. ~SDC~
I already had .99.138 installed and was refreshing like a madman, so must have coinicdentally shown up when I restarted or something. Dunno, but happy! ~SDC~
Exited SDC and restarted it just for yucks and seeing it now! Yeehah! :CONGRAT: ~SDC~
Huh. Not seeing it yet here. Perhaps having 2 Drengin.net subscriptions (one for over 2 years) isn't enough? ;) I'll assume it'll show up soon, but geez the pain of waiting... ~SDC~
Dunno, but my local EB is saying they might get it tomorrow, but that they're not sure whether it's arriving overnight or via 2-day air. They just said to check back tomorrow. ~SDC~
It might be hard to spot due to the amazing amount of info on his site, but there is a full tech tree (even available in .pdf) that you can find here: http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/fulltechtree.pdf ~SDC~
Yes, yes, and yes. :) ~SDC~
That's quite cool indeed! It'd been lurking in the #3-4 spot for a while, but #1 doesn't suck... :) ~SDC~
Yeah, think it's shutdown except to people playing the release version. But we'll get to do that in a couple of days... :) ~SDC~
