Don't think this has been reported already - a bug when renaming ships... It doesn't seem to be possible to rename a ship that is in orbit of a planet, you have to launch it first then rename it. Although you can select the ship in orbit so that its information is displayed in the bottom status area, clicking to rename it always goes to rename the last ship that was selected out of orbit, if that makes sense.
