I've noticed the same. The Altarians, on a large loose clusters map, colonized planets WAY out of stadard colony ship ranges. I'm talking the distance between the target planet and their closest their colony (capital) was 7 sectors. They colonized that planet by turn 20. They went STRAIGHT for those waaaaaay out there planets since they didn't have any near "home". :p

When a trade route is established do Freighters *always* take the most direct route to and from their starting/destination planets? Or do they sometimes take a 1 sector adjacent detour if there is a Starbase with a trading module built on it? I've had my freighters take one route through sectors but take another on the way back.

Same problem here. I've been "Friendly" with the Torians and the Altarians for many years now and have the Torians under my thumb since they are economically dependant on me by a whopping 80%. I've given them ships, tech and support in all their wars. The Terran Empire alignment is neutral (54) and superior to them in nearly all aspects. I have Alliances researched and I gave it to them both. The Torians and Altarians allied though... but not me. I feel so left out. Are Allianc

How about just leveling the playing field and letting the AI play ability provide ALL the challenge? Either give the player the equivilant of Stellar Cartography or make the AI scout out/GAMBLE on those grey star clusters underneath the Fog of War. What I am forced to do is scout out with my Colony Ships (yes, I can pump those boys out fast as any of you dudes!) to all star clusters while AI punk'boy doesn't sweat it one bit. It doesn't know where the 26 planet is but it sure k

I read in previous posts that the AI knows where ALL the 15+ planets are from turn 1 of a new game. It doesn't need to research the science that lets one see all the Yellow stars in a galaxy. It isn't till after my 5th game that I've realised this is cheating in the EXTREME on the AI's part. GalCiv is ALL about colonizing the best planets and giving the AI this ability is about as bad as giving it free combat/production/hitpoint bonuses. Sure, the AI doesn't cheat in most all o

It's been mentioned many times, but I wanted to chime in for the sake of "the cry of the masses" effect. I want Rally Points. I'm going *NUTS* ordering my fleet of newly built starships from my 30 misplaced planets to leave orbit, select the ship again, and then order it to go here, there and next to that thing EVERY turn. :sniff!: Micromanagement heck! (:( (:( (:( But the game still rocks. :CONGRAT:
