Servo Founders can log in to the Founder's Vault today for a look at some of our latest development materials. Included this time around is a look at a new enemy that will be appearing in the next update for the game. Keep your eyes peeled, they're lurking out there.
Join members of the Servo development team online for multiplayer games starting at 7pm Central Time (GMT-5), this Thursday, May21. Programmers, artists, and game designers that work on Servo will be hanging out in Servo Gamers Group Chat and playing Coop and PvP games for an hour or more. Come on out to chat, ask questions, say hello, and or kick some developer butt. Hope to see you there!
Completely agree - unfortunately we can't currently associate the group with Servo, which is required to make an event.
It's about that time - firing up Servo now. Hope to see you online.
Latest Servo Build: 302 The Week It definitely felt like a busy week for us. Our first update to Servo went out on Monday, adding a bunch of new content/fixes to the Founder's Alpha - a lot of which seem to have been well received. We've read some very useful feedback in the forums, thanks very much to everyone that has taken the time to leave their thoughts and comments. If you haven't done so yet, it
Another informal invitation to come out and play Servo. May 16 at 2pm CT, log on and try some PVP games. Get to know your fellow Founders while wrecking their Servos and laying waste to their bases. Fire up the game, click multiplayer, then select PVP, then hit find match at around 2pm CT to find an opponent. You also might want to join the Servo Games Steam Group to organize games with other Founders: http:/
The fixes that Godgib is talking about will be available in the next update to Servo - date and time for that is TBD. The game was updated on Monday (I assume you have that and are referring to the very latest fixes), but of course we don't hold our breathe while patches go out, we're constantly fixing/changing/iterating on the game internally.
Yes, definitely understandable that people would have plans and other things going on Saturday and Sunday. Also, this weekend is coming up quick so it's not a lot of time to get the word out. I'll put up an announcement for Saturday and see how it goes. We'll definitely do something during the week next week.
Bruce sat down to put together the team blog for this week in which he talks about the design process on Servo. By Bruce Shelley We playtest Servo several times a week, if not daily, with our entire team. A major goal for these tests is usually to gather first feedback on changes made in the last 24 hours or so. Although we follow a more formal process for many systems and features that includes a rough specification (
I was thinking about when to have another game night for the Servo Gamers Steam group . (feel free to join if you haven't already) Maybe an event earlier in the day so Founders in Europe can join in without having to stay up into the wee hours? Saturday at 2pm CT? Since the AI doesn't play very well on the new Creep Rock City map (yet), maybe we could get some PVP games going on that map to try it out
Sweet - it seems like that one has been around since the dawn of time
Couldn't have said it any better. Thanks Skoolbus!
Servo Founders can check out the Founder's Vault today for another update that offers a look at some of our latest development materials. Included this week is a look at what we have going on with buildings and a listen to what we have going on in the sound department. We hope you enjoy it.
The Alpha version of Servo has been updated today, just log on to Steam to pull down the latest version of the Alpha which is 293. This will reset all users' progress, so you will be starting from the beginning again. You can find a full list of new content, balance changes, bug fixes and more here in the forum . Among the many changes is a pretty big one to Drones. They are no longer free and they are not p
An update for the Founder's Alpha will be available later today, taking your version of Servo up to 293 and resetting your progress - IE everyone will be starting over again. Here is a list of the new stuff as well as bug fixes etc. The update includes some big changes such as Drones are no longer automatically produced from Factories for free. Instead you need to queue them up yourself and they cost resources. New Stuff Onlin
Glad you were able to get some games in wondible - sorry I couldn't seem to join your games. We do occasionally experience those same matchmaking issues when we're testing at the office so it is an issue we'd love to get fixed. Thanks for the games Skoolbus! Couldn't ask for a better co-op partner.
The idea is that, yes, the Grappling Claw would pull the target towards you. Good for maybe finishing off an escaping enemy or yanking one of your allies out of harms way. The finer details on how it would work still need to be ironed out.
Latest Servo Build: 295 Release Candidate 0 The infamous RC0. A Release Candidate (RC) is a version of the game that goes through a bunch of testing with the thought that it could be the version of the game that goes out to the public, either as a patch/update or as the final version of the game that is sold. You may have read something about RC0 this week in the forums or on Twitter. We are working on an up
That looks awesome, though that chair doesn't look comfortable enough. Definitely could use an upgrade to the Number B. [e digicons]XD[/e]
Hah, nice. :)
By Andy Cotnam As a Concept Artist, it's my job to explore some of the less considered aspects of the game. One of those places for me is the cockpits inside the SERVOs you'll be controlling in-game. It's not something you'll really ever see in-game, but the idea that one of your top 3 pilots is inside that giant mech is really cool to me, so I thought I'd take a quick swing at one of those Servo Cockpits. It's still a WIP (Concept artist lingo
Bumping this - hope to see you guys tomorrow!
Hi Parkerj - what kind of computer are you using to run the game? Video card? How much memory? Saved games are certainly on the list of things we have to do.
Yes, that is correct, and to unlock the other Servos and Pilots.
There aren't a great many maps in the game right now, so this probably isn't going to be a tough question. Do you have a favorite map that you play on right now? Why is it your favorite? Is there a map that we should obviously make for a game like this? Yes, we're cranking away on some new maps.
