I've been playing with the AIs set at "bright" but they always get listed as "normal" during metaverse submission.

Regarding the AI playing by the same rules: What I'd love to see is a client-server architecture where the game server enforces the rules, and the AIs and humans all interact with it through the same API. One could still tweak the production levels for the AIs to change the difficulty, but more fun (to us programming nerds) would be to get to write our own client, to help with the micromanagement while the human watches the big picture. Surely at least replacing the human player with an AI should be doable. There's an exposed API already, namely the mouse/keyboard interface. Also, perhaps opening part of the source but without a FREE license could be something to consider. With no copy protection Stardock is already showing an admirable level of trust for the users....
