1c. Taxes will never be enough. You need to augment your income with trade, and tribute. 2. The more people you have the more that are working the more IU they can produce. As far as PQ goes, the higher the PQ the more people will like your planet and live there so the higher the population goes so they can work more giving you more IUs. 3. works the same as 2.

Another thing that influences trades is what they think about you. You may be offering them a deal of a lifetime, but if they don't like you they will refuse it on principle (until you offer more). This is a very human like tactic (used in risk especially) where humans will pay more money or not deal with another human just out of spite. :)

the number really isn't any bigger. Figure that they probably use at least a 2 byte number to represent all support costs as 1 byte is maxed at 255 which may not be big enought. 2 bytes has a range of 65536, or if you are using negatives -32768 to 32768. Still plenty big to accomplish whatever you need done. BTW, as far as computers are concerned a 00000010, and 10000010 take up the exact same amount of space. Another

I think that a simple way to increase tactics (in a minor way) would be to make fleets work together. As it stands right now there are one 1 on 1 fights even if the ships are in a fleet. It seems to me that if you had 100 star fighters you probably could destroy a battleship, but right now you can't. I think that this could be a simple behind the scenes thing to implement. (possibly) frogboy, I love the game keep up the good work. I have already started failing my school classes because

I have the compulsive problem of having to have every single world builing everyting possible. This actually worked out very well because my trade was +800, and with my spend rate was 100% I was still making money, but I was exclusively trading with one nation and they declared war on me. I didn't even have enough money to cover maintenance with spend rate at 0%. (:(

SE 3 had tactical combat, and it was cool for the first 10 battles, but after that I always hit the auto-fight button because it comes out the same anyways. The only thing it did was pull away from the overall picture of the game and give you more micro-managing

What is the best opening strategy? Normally I buy 4 colony ships and load them with 200mil a piece and grab 4 new sectors. then I buy 2 constructors. This unfortunately leaves me hopelessly in debt, and for some reason I can never get my pop to grow very fast (even with +abilities)

The first game that I played I was on a medium galaxy with begginner AI. I started in the middle, and managed to take out the yor and torians plus push everyone else to the right side of the map. I was moving in for cultural victory, and with ~12 months remaining the dragonil (sp?) appeared on one of my planets in the upper left. Since I was going for cultural victory at this point I had the worlds largest supply of constructors, but not cap. ships. Not wanting to reload the game I sen
