Go to war with them. LOL

A couple minor bugs: All AI set to bright on a huge galaxy.\ 1) Dengins seem to get both good and evil techs. I bought both hyper trade, thought police, the dark side, and xeno brain washing from them. IMHO there was no way that they should have had hypertrade. No other race was even close to researching that tech plus they had no money (-600bc). 2) If the I-league is destroyed and comes back it doesn't appear in the minor races tab. Thanks for all the work th
What are some of the best stats out there as far as ships/pq/influence goes? Excalibur: hp: 1182/1182 attack: 397 defence: 107 Planet Quality: 48
Delete and reinstall the game from scratch. There hasn't been games crashing this bad in a while so chances are you have a corrupted file somewhere.
same problem here.
yes, starbase bonuses stack within a sector.
I wish I had fantastic cash reserves. (:(
Has anyone ever programmed an AI? It isn't as simple as lets just add a length value to war declarations and let the AI know about it. Entire new algorithms and methods need to be written for every level of AI intelligence plus how much it would value this new aspect in diplomacy settings. At some time the AI will hit a point of diminishing returns. I am betting that we are already there. Brad could keep on adding more and more stuff to the AI, but the computing power needed to run it increases
I am going to sue you for saying that you can sue anyone for anything in america. ;)
There is nothing quite like the feeling of selling 5,000,000,000 to some alien species. LOL
there is a whole sticky thread devoted to this issue.
In situations like that it seems like the third race joins the second race against me. >:(
It generally seems to me that the AI is the war party. This gives them a +50 hp boost to all of their ships. Also see if they have any military resources. Those can up the fighting power of a ship by 60%.
Start scrapping some of your social improvements on the planets. Fully equipped planets are not self sufficient. by the end game a planet with every upgrade would be about 100/400 income/expense. If you have this for every planet (or any planet) you are going to be in a world of hurt.
Fleet combat would require a huge change in AI. Fleets are put in only to help with the micromanaging. Right now the AI essentially doesn't even recognize that fleet combat exists. so... 1. AI must recognize fleets. 2. AI must learn to use transports, constructors, combat ships into effective fleets. 3. Need to figure out someway not to end up with mega fleets. 4. Program Fleet strategy. 5. debug. ugh. That is just the start. It is a huge undertaking, not something t
The is a sticky thread called bugs. You can read that (550+ posts) :) The bugs that I notice the most is galactic wonders and trade items being built by multiple races.
note to self: galciv forum doesn't allow posting of mathematical formulas. :)
Model Human: diplomacy advantage * traded item value * military advantage
thongor, good work on documenting the discepencies in the cash/influence/tech trading. IMHO as far as the cash trades go I believe that frogboy posted at some point that it was broken, and it may not be fixed yet. Also in my mind this is how I think the trade agorithm works Human: " * * * * ] - [ * ]" Using this model it seems to make sense that even if your diplomacy is high that if your military is weak, or you suffer to much of an alignment difference the AI won

normally no, but last game I had to use it on a handful of planets becuase the I league was hating on me.
I have had an AI surrender to me once (to spite another AI), but normally they tend to surrender to other AI (to spite me) so you still have to take all of their worlds anyways. It doesn't seem that they conceed defeat to the conquerer, but rather to just about anyone else. :)
yes, all combat is 1 to 1 so if you have a fleet of small ships and attack a large ship they will actually only attack one at a time even though they are in a fleet.
Great job with the AI. It is nice to know that when the AI beats me it didn't beat me by some random chance, but because it actually out thought me. :)
one thing that helps (although it seems counter intuitive) is set all of the AIs on sub-normal. This is easier than having just one on sub-normal. When there is just one it will easily take most of the worlds and have a huge start ending in a senario like you ran into (the same has happened to me). If you set all of the AI levels the same they help keep each other in check so you don't get used right at the beginning.
