The only thing I could say MoO3 would still top GalCiv on is Multiplayer and ship customization. Right now I bought GalCiv direct and DLing it. But thanks to their own system I have to DL it through a 56K connection. I was hoping I could get a secure line to DL an ISO or something, but I guess not.

Add in multiplayer. It's sad to think a game with this much potential left out an obviously clear ingredient. Hell, from what I heard of MOO3 one of the few things keeping people going despite the bugs IS the multiplayer.

I looked into this game, rather late I might add. I have NO IDEA how this game got past my radar but whatever. I don't seem to see any kind of multiplayer from the site. This there any? Or do they plan to make it? It's hardly a scarcely-known fact multiplayer extends the life og a game indefinitely if done right. Half-Life is a good example.

Well the initial problem with betas is the sample size. With a beta, it's selective and small in number. A full public demo compiled with a couple of dev team members and a monitored forum could in theory achieve better results. Since more often than not betas are almost always comprised of people who would tend to be more "fanboys" of the genre than not. Sometimes you need a larger sample to do so. Of course still most companies don't know about releasing demos before the final product. Usually it gives you a more stable user base, since if they played the demo before they bought it there would be significantly less disappointment and complaining after the game releases and people buy it. Look at Master Of Orion 3.
