I think we could have fleet stacking without the "mega fleet" scenario. After all, it is impossible IRL to control massive amounts of forces easily. There could be a maximum number of ships that can be in a fleet for it to fight effectively, and anything beyond that incurs penalties. Hearts of Iron introduced this somewhat through commanders, who, based on their skill level, can command certain numbers of divisions effectively. So maybe have a fleet maximum, and then have techs to re

Oh please. His addendum is a whine. First he falsely claims it was cheating, now he complains about a "stacked deck." Apparently he doesn't like challenging AIs. He can go and play MOO3 and get a dumb AI if he wants. No skin off GalCiv's teeth.
Have to say, I think Brad is on the money re: the AI being scored so low. What a crock. This reviewer seemed to be upset that it actually challenged him. Maybe that's understandable, considering how we've come to expect dumb AIs from strategy games. But come on--considering how totally braindead MOO3's AI is, and that got a 3, the 2.5 score for GalCiv is crap. And to just flat out accuse the game of cheating in a review, without any evidence but instead extremely circumstantial evid
"It's United Star Ship... But since there's also the United Planets, it doesn't really fit in with the theme of the game anyway?" Hehe, well, if the Federation used "UPS" as a prefix, everyone would think they were in the parcel delivery business...
Oh, and a biggie for me: The ability to play past the victory of the game. This was a feature I loved in Civ, and would like it here. I mean, would it be difficult to just allow the player to keep playing indefinitely?
The Draginol event doesn't have to end your game. See the other threads about it. I was able to destroy the Draginol and go on to win the game after the event took me by surprise. Sure, it was an incredibly extreme solution, but not unrealistic given the strength of the Draginol assault. Consider it an apocalyptic event.
Ooh Oooh! Just thought of a fun one. More interaction with the Senate. If you are a republic or higher, perhaps there can be events or something whereby you have bill before the Senate. If the bills pass (which would probably hinge on your control of the senate), you'd get some morale/economic bonuses, and if it fails you get penalties. I think it would add some more flavor to the game in regards to running a civilization. Just a thought!
Well, having reloaded my game...I was able to beat the Draginol, but only through extreme measures. After they had sprung up on one of my systems, they took over another major system before I made peace with them by giving them 2 more. So they then went on to attack the Altarians and the Torians, obliterating their fleets. THe odd thing was that they conquered 4 more Altarian worlds, but stopped conquering any planets after that, as if they were out of transports. But their overlords were sw
Considering how ubiquitous I see this problem being for new players, I have to wonder if there isn't a more intuitive way...
Ceyan, I think there's a difference between having a difficult game and having a sudden event pop up that ruins your game, which is why some complain. The issue for me is not that the Draginol event occurs, but that it occurs in such an overpowering manner that requires the AI to cheat for them. There's no other way they could produce ships as fast as they are without cheating. Things like that, more often than not, tend to frustrate game players. First and foremost it's a game, and that sho
Not gonna read all pages, so may be repeats: -Individual planet building queues, in addition to the governors. -Rally points for new ships -An actual in-game tech tree, and ability to click on the things in the research window to see what they do before researching them -Is it possible to disband ships while they are in a system? I always had to move them out and then do it. If you can, do you get a little money/manufacturing bump for it? If not, you should
Ah coooool. Well, if I want to salvage my current game, I think my only hope will be to build enough terror stars to annhilate the Draginol-held systems in one turn... LOL
And how do you abandon a colony? Is the manual "load em on transports" method the only way? I think there should be a quicker way...
I only got one warning about it, and I had no way of knowing, being a newbie, it would be that overpowering!
Yeh, this event just ruined my first game. (:( What bugs me is that, unless you know what's coming, it's pretty much unstoppable. I think it's a wee bit overpowered. It could be toned down a few notches and still be an effective event.
I got the damned Draginol event late in the game. Medium sized map, I controlled about 1/3 of the galaxy, had influence over 65% of it, and was the military and economic powerhouse. Bam, along comes this event, which spawns these ridiculously powerful ships all over (no explanation for that, since the event only took over one system in my territory), and every turn the new system churned out several new ships at an impossible rate. They proceeded to decimate my navy, destroy every bas
Help please...Earth just built a colony ship, it's sitting there...but how the heck do I send it out? I've tried clicking on it, but nothing seems to work... :notsure:
