Hi! If you were the computer, how would you counter that? I.e. think of the AI as a human player, what's the counter to a sudden, massive sneak attack? There's no counter for such kind of attack, if you allow an opponent to organize it. And here's the catch: a single scout can ruin such a sneaky plan i

Hi! Claim: "The AI knows where the good planets are". Bah! I'm pretty sure AI says that for me, as I usually manage to beat them in the race for the best planets. I too do blind exploration, however AI does that with scouts, and I with colonizers. So far I haven't build a single early game scout. There are two main reasons I don't do that:
Hi! This Turn Button bug occurs fairly often, sometimes 80% of the time Press Tab to find the autopilot ship, that just ended its automove order and has still some moves remaining. Move it. Turn button appears. BR, Iztok
Hi! The +10% and +20% PQ traits give more green tiles only on the HW . I just did a quick testbed with a race with +20% PQ. The result proves my statement: HW's PQ was improved to 12, with 12 green tiles. A planet size 6 was improved to 7, but number of green tiles remained at 6. Another planet class 10 became 12, but with only 10 green tiles. That's not only 1.1 beta glitch. It is also present in 1.0x. BR, Iztok
Hi! It works for me... Did you count the colony capital tile? Also, don't forget you will only see an additional tile on base 10+ planets since everything rounds down. That's my point. The +10% PQ gives more tiles only on the HW . I just did a quick testbed with a race with +20% PQ. The result was the same: HW was improved to 12, with 12
Hi! I couldn't find more appropriate topic, so I'm posting here. In almost every game I played I took the 10% better planets, thinking "Really cheap way to get more tiles on planets". But recently I started counting actuall tiles, and found there's no more of them . Planets I settled got only increased class number, not number of green tiles. It seems to give more tiles only on the HW. I vagually remember reading something about t
Hi! I agree. A starbase over a planet would be very usefull in early and mid game. The attacker would have to destroy it before it could land troops. OTOH that would make early invasions with heavy fighters very expensive: just a basic weapons on a SB(8/1/1, no defenses) are MUCH stronger than a typical attack 2 heavy fighter. I've lost some fighter fleets because targeting the wrong starbase. BR, Iztok
Hi! AI always attacks pretty early on and I seem to be unable to make them happy enough with me to slide there disposition much past "neutral" Send a freighter to them to establish a trade route. You can also try to get some bonuses from diplomacy. If your diplo ability is highter then theirs, they'll like you more. Anyway, check the Report
Hi! And yes no tech trading means that you don't have the option to try to bribe them. What about cold hard cash? Or Trade Goods? <TD class="mb-Body-Qu
Hi! Gotta ask though... what does it do? Construct faster? Higher attack/defense? More hits? Ships produced there have their attack capability increased by the stated percent. No defense bonus though. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-
Hi! Usually this happens when you build influence starbase near their planets. I've never built a single one, just took and influence resource. Not even upgraded it, but half of the races usually have that line. Basically they're wrong, I'm going to exterminante them the oldfashioned way, that works much faster and in more predictable way. <im
Hi! It can be fun to give gifted starbaces to other races, or even sell them At genius they don't pay a dime for it. I can give it away only for free. Got that issue several times, gave them back, and got them again as a gift few turns thereafter. Scrapped them for some 150 BC. IMO such behaviour shoul
Hi! how much weaponry for a default transport does not appear to work. Worked for me. Was really nice hunting those constrictors / transports / freighters with my speed-11 3/3/3 attack transports <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=cente
Hi! I would like to see the ability to build lower grade structures than what's the highest available. Me too. Please. BR, Iztok
Hi! This exists. You can research it and it gives another invasion option.. You don't get to see any of the actual bombardment but it destroys buildings and kills people. Where? I'm not able to find the option "Bombardment only". And if I don't win the invasion, there's no effect on buil
Hi! Game ver. 1.0x.1, glitch: - Playing as Yor I have in planet details screen of conquered planets 3 different texts, separated by # describing plant was conquered. - Civilization manager, timeline tab, diplomacy button: no lines displayed, just one short line at the very bottom of the frame. Not Yor-dependent, haven't seen it also as Human. BR, Iztok
Hi! imagine I won't be playing GC1as much now, because of GCII, but I imagine I might come back to it from time to time. I'm not going back. GalCiv2 has every mayor feature GC1 has, but it is simply better / nicer / more user-friendly than GC1. Thanks, Stardock! Great sequel. BR, Iztok<
Hi! I wonder where I can find Stars! game? The homepage seems to be down. At http://starsautohost.org/stars.htm Comunity slowly decreasing, but still kicking. BR, Iztok
Hi! I have actually seen the AI do this. They will load up thier ships (not seperate ships but one singly type) with multiple weapon types and come at you. IMO that's not such a good idea when defenses are common, and at least moderately effective, because one defense activates at EACH attack (from pri
Hi! After seing the 24 missile attack from my frigates being blocked twice in a row with a SINGLE ( 1 ) armor, dealing 0 damage to the drengin's heavy fighter, and in the return fire receiving 5 mass-driver damage from the same 6 attack fighter through 21 ARMOR defense , I vote for a change. Since there are already used square roots in defense, I'd propose that weapons roll from
Hi! I could swear that anomalies sometimes disappear when I reload a game from save. Happens to me too, accompanied with some other "funny" reload issues. I almost abandoned loading the game. When I want to turn comp off, I put it in hibernation mode instead, and then I just continue playing the next day. IIRC disappearing anomalies w
Hi! Game ver. 1.0x.1, 1 glitch: I couldn't flip culturaly even a single Arceans' planet. Explanation: I had the whole universe under my influence. The only race that remained were Arceans in the middle of the uni (left becausel lots of trade routes went to my empire). Their ~12 planets had ALL red skull flags, but not a single one defected in more than 20 turns, before my ships arrived and I started the final war. Two of their planets were under 4.0+ Torian influence
Hi! Hopefully, human players will start putting their brain SDKs available for download. Long ago Jason Cawley, the biggest Stars! guru, wrote a formula for a successfull play of Stars! multiplayer BBEM games. It consists of 3 words: economy -> technology -> ships <b
Hi! H3lmut, your approach to the game has a distinctive name in multiplayer environment: " bunker n00b ". Such a player usually wins the game because other players got tired of assaulting his multiple times fortified positions, and they just quit, looking for a better game. AI will not quit, but when it will learn: - to use more speed, - to avoid your starbase-enhanced ships and take out those starbases behind them, and <br/
Hi! Game ver. 1.0x.1, 1 glitch: Intelligence report on Precursor Ranger displays for a single ship two different descriptions of ship components: + Huge (Hull) + Positronic Torpedo (Missile +11) + ... + Droid Sentries (Point Defense +5) +... + Huge (Hull) + Quantum Driver (Mass Driver +5) + ... +Kanvium 3 (Armor +5) The info panel shows only mass drivers/armor combo.
