#3 by Admin Jafo - 11/27/2003 7:19:16 PM Good positive actions and with the admins/mods working toward making this a more 'civil' community, it falls on the rest of us to do our part and act civil as well.

Jafo DOES call himself a 'power user'......but clearly that is some OTHER interpretation of 'power user' that may be a tad more 'obscure'.... Maybe a little heavy on the 'power'? At least on that program! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smil

Seems like there was a suggestion once to let people pick what categories would appear in the Newest Additions list, much the way you can do in your profile for the categories on the left side (Library). That would help. I'm usually not particularly interested in seeing the 9 or 10 ObjectDock icons posted at one time. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/jokegrim.gif" border=0 ALIGN="

Re getting help or figuring it out on your own, I can see both sides. Yes, you really don't have a complete understanding of skinning if you are handed all the answers without having to go through the trials of learning it first hand. But I also see what seems to be a lack of input from the more experienced skinners. The skinning messageboard has a Unofficial WindowBlinds/SkinStudio Documentation Project. When this first started, I thought "Great idea! All the really good, old time skinners will

#20 by Citizen ScoobyWRX STi 04 - 11/15/2003 11:59:49 PM Well when I go to export the file I created to turn it into a .Bootskin i get the same thing, and others ahave complained about it, is there a estimated date for next release? You can create the bootskin file without exporting it. Just make your images, write your ini file, zip it up and

#10 by bordfryr - 11/15/2003 5:31:14 PM Make sure your file associations in psp are checked. I just checked all of them and it then worked for me. Thanks, bordfryr. I wondered if that would work in PSP (it does in PS), but I think he's trying to find a way to make it work without associating bmp's with PSP. <img src="http://images.stardock.co

#17 by Citizen paulhaskew - 11/15/2003 8:02:30 PM That's the first I've heard of that particular problem, paulhaskew. I'm afraid I've run out of ideas. Sorry. Hopefully the next versions will sort out some of the bugs. BTW - I know what you mean about the 10 month old. My 4 year old is almost as bad! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/

by Citizen thehighlander - 11/14/2003 2:05:47 PM i just installed the public075 build of bootskin. it didn't crash my system, but the only change is that the normal bootscreen is pink, and you can't see the progress bar moving. i left it installed, but switched back to default screen. any solutions? I'm not clear on what you are saying. You said

I'm assuming that 'appt' is 'apply'. So, if I understand, you can import the skins and see them in the list of skins in BootSkin just fine. But when you click on a skin and then click the 'apply' button, that's when you get the 'corrupt' message? If not, when exactly do you get the message? Starting the computer after sucessfully applying a new skin? What happens after that? Does the skin you selected have 'Active' after the title? Or does the Default System Boot Screen still have

Just a thought ... but maybe the idea that Windows skinners are 'ripping' the work of Mac skinners comes from so many Windows skinners trying to emulate Mac type buttons (glassy/gel), at least in WindowBlinds skins. If you look at some of the older WB skins, you don't see as much of the glassy buttons, whereas the popular ones now are mostly glass button types. Even though they don't get the popularity/downloads, I like seeing the new WB skins that strike out from the current mold to do

If you are getting the 'corrupt' message when doubleclicking the bootskin file, don't doubleclick it. Rename the file to skin name.zip, then doubleclick it. Winzip will open (if you have winzip) and you'll see the files inside. Extract them to the folder you created. [Message Edited]
